Field Wishes!!
Little League Baseball has a proud history of creating life long memories for kids age 5-14 in the Bend community. Starting at T-ball, kids can be part of the team and learn about both baseball and Little League core values of Loyalty, Courage and Character. For several years, kids have been reciting the Little League Pledge before each game: I trust in God, I love my country and will respect its laws. I will play fair and strive to win but win or lose I will always do my best. Ultimately, Little League is a Youth Development program that has baseball as its mission.
Unlike many communities both large and small in Oregon, Bend does not have its own Little League Complex. For many years we have relied on the ever changing field situation in Bend between Parks and Rec and the School District. Every year, we hold our breath hoping we have enough fields available to our use in order to run our League. Every year, we have to turn kids away due to lack of field availability. Our ultimate goal is to build a complex where all kids can play baseball. We have formed a Complex Development Committee and are actively seeking land options for this complex. Please feel free to contact any board member for more information.
In the short term, we have partnered with Bend Lapine Schools to develop 5 baseball fields on the Lava Ridge Elementary/Sky View Middle School and Buckingham campuses. This is a win: win situation for the Schools, Little League and the Bend community. These fields will be regulation Little League fields with the appropriate safety considerations for the kids including dugouts and fencing.
We are asking for pledges to help create these fields. Your generosity will directly impact the youth of this community by allowing them to enjoy our National pastime, Baseball. Donors of $500 or more will be honored in our publications, advertising, special events, and with a Thank You plaque at each field.
Thank you for your ongoing support in our Community! Please feel free to contact anyone on the Board for more specific information.
