Belmont United: Coaches

 COACHES CORNER PAGE
PREFACE - FOCUS ON POSITIVE COACHING

Dear Coach,

We have created this page to guide your coaching experience with Belmont United Soccer Club. We expect our coaches to be role models for our youth team players and teach, besides soccer skills, lessons in teamwork, leadership and good sportmanship.

It is important that as a BUSC coach you focus on the core values the club is trying to promote:

  • Create a positive learning environment - work hard and have fun
  • Emphasize effort goals over outcome goals using PCA's "ELM Tree of Mastery". => FOCUS ON
    • Effort over outcome
    • Learning environment
    • Mistakes are ok

From a curriculum perspective: BUSC is aligned with the recently released US Youth Soccer Federation Curriculum.

The club expects you to review and align to the USYSF curriculum and plan your season practices accordingly.

COACH EDUCATION SUPPORT PROGRAM

 Dear Coaches,

The club is announcing today that it will establish a yearly fund to support continuing coaches education. The program will be structured as follows:

  • The club will set aside a pool of money every year for coaches education taking into account BUSC’s annual budget.
    • The funds will be for certified coaching courses for which costs are not reimbursed by CYSA or the RWL
    • The courses will be determined and approved upfront by the BUSC Board at its sole discretion

  • The funds will be allocated to pay for 50% of the coaches' licensing education expenses (through NSCAA or USSF). Coaches wanting to take advantage of this program will have to:
    • Indicate in advance of training intention to take incremental licensing education and cost to club and DoC
    • Obtain prior written approval from the BUSC Board
    • Submit receipt of payment for the course and proof of license attainment

  • The club will limit any coach to 1 refund requests per year and will require a 2 year minimum coaching tenure at BUSC before refunds can be processed
    • Licenses obtained prior to meeting the 2 year commitment can be submitted when the 2 year tenure is reached

  • For paid coaches: the club will recover half of the refunded amount by netting the amount out of coaches payments for the current and/or following season
