We want to be extremely competitive and win, and we do, but it will also be about the journey and lessons learned for the kids. Hornet players receive top level training, work hard, excel, and enjoy the ride. We teach college level ASA softball with a fun twist !

 Each team has its specialty. Ours is simple.. Player Development.. Our goal is to make players significantly better... Preparing them for the next steps.  

Each team has its own personalities. Part of ours is simple.. The players enjoy the journey.. they have fun...           

Winning is a by-product of preparation.     

What we are all about..
A director at the ASA Nationals sign-in in Virginia this year asked me, " Your kids have more fun than any team I have seen here. How do you do that?" An umpire at Regional made this statement: " Your team is always smiling...having a good time. That's going to take them a long way." And it did, we won the NE ASA Region.

We are not as big as some, we don't hit as many home runs as others. Some teams are faster or hit bigger or pitch harder...

But the 16U Hornets play with heart and character always...

A Little Info About Our Teams: The Bedford Hornets have players from throughout southern NH and Northern Mass, including Bedford, Amherst, Merrimack, Nashua, Lowell, Hooksett, Weare, Goffstown, Manchester, Milford, Bow, Litchfield, Salem, Windham, Hudson, Londonderry, Merrimack, Northern Mass, and more.

First Tournament of 2007 Goes Well

A good time was had by all last weekend at the Mid March Rising Stars tournament. The Hornet girls and coaches might have been a bit rusty, but played well winning all 4 games against some talented teams. We made some big plays with one ESPN catch by Meg, you the woman ! And some awesome pitching, Go Casey / Rachael / and Tanya.. Plus big hitting, fielding, and base running by all the girls.. Great job girls.. Way to play Hornet's ball.

14 U Bedford Hornets Blast Into The Summer

Injuries and player conflicts can cripple a travel softball team, many play with little depth. Moving up to the next age bracket can be even more difficult. Over Fathers Day weekend the 14U Bedford Hornets showed that neither obstacle is insurmountable. That team adversity equals opportunity. The opportunity to be a hero!

The 14U Hornets entered the Slammers Classic ASA Softball tournament over Fathers Day weekend missing a starting catcher, a starting pitcher, facing 90-degree heat, with no subs for 2 games, and 1 sub for the others. To throw in a little more drama, the Slammers Classic was the team’s first ASA softball tournament since making the jump to the 14 and under age group. The girls might not have been a bottom seed going into the tournament, but they were close. For the other teams playing in the tournament however, underestimating the 14U Hornets was a mistake.

In pool playing on Friday night and Saturday the girls hit, scratched, and generated runs. Behind the awesome pitching by Sarah Kelley and Tanya Robidoux, the girls placed second out of pool play. In the first game of the single elimination playoffs, they faced the always-tough NH Comets. The Comets scored first going up by 1. With a just a few minutes left in the game the Hornet’s first baseman Alyssa Nelson came to the plate. With one swing of the bat, long Home Run, the Hornets were back in the game. In the last inning they took the lead, a 2-1 victory. In the semi-finals, the Londonderry Lightning took the field. The Lightning always plays tough, but were unable to stay up with the Hornets on this day. Another victory and into the championship for the Hornets against one of the best teams in the state, Pete’s Dragons.

Coach Scott Stratton: “ Prior to the championship game we had a team meeting. The message, you have all worked hard to get here. You played as a team always. You are magnificent! Now relax, forget about the score, play Hornet ball, and leave nothing behind on the field. Give this game 100%. Be a hero ! “ And hero’s they were !

In the championship game, the Hornets struck first and never looked back. Backing-up their pitcher, Sarah Kelley, the girls left nothing behind. Great defense, huge outfield plays, great pitching, and the Hornet’s stung the Dragons. A 7 to 4 victory and the 14U Championship. Coach Scott: “The girls learned a new word today, synergy. There were 10 14U Hornet players today at the game, but we played as if we had 15 on the field every inning. Every player gave 100%. Each and every one of these girls were heroes today!”

Coach Scott: We would like to thank the extremely talented Pete’s Dragon team for two great games. It’s very difficult to play 2 game back to back as you did for the Championship. You played great ball. On the drive back from the game my daughter talked about how nice the Dragon coaches and players were.  I couldn’t agree more. Thanks Pete’s Dragons. You are a class act!

THANK YOU TO THE SLAMMERS FOR A GREAT TOURNAMENT !  The Slammers softball organization is the pure definition of what is good is kids sports. It was an honor for the 14U Hornets team to play at the Slammer Classic !    

12U Bedford HornetsTakes First Place At The Barbara Hamilton Tournament In Hudson. 
                                          
The weekend started off Friday night playing the Nashua Nightmares. It was a close game until the third inning when the Hornets started to sting. When it ended, the Hornets won big. In the second game, the girls faced the South Shore Stealers. Great defense, excellent pitching, and lots of bat speed lead to another fifth inning end. In game three, the Hornets took on the always-tough RI State champions, the Apponaug Nitro. This game was close coming down to the last inning. The Hornets by 1 run! First place out of pool play lead to a by in the first round and another games against the Apponaug Nitro in the semi finals. This time the Hornets struck fast and hard. In the championship game, the Hudson Heat came to play. The always tough, always great (and really nice with a very cool catcher mask), Heat team had just come off two tournaments wins and were hot. We traded runs before the Heat went up by 2 with some big hits. In the bottom of the 6th the Hornets managed to load the bases and as the cheer goes, “She’s our lead off batter and one of the best", indeed. Can you say triple! This was followed by more hitting. In the top of the sixth, the Heat was unable to score against the girls and the Hornets won the game and the tournament. Five games, five wins, and the tournament championship.

Congrat's to the Hudson Heat for coming in second ! That game could have gone either way. You guys are great !
