Beaumontxctrack: My Site News
Friday, June 24Its Coming........
After a very solid track season that saw both the girls and boys team win league championships in the same year for the first time since 1986, its getting to be that time for cross country season once again. Track season was highlighted by field event performers such as Caleb Wood, Andrew Walker, and Lindsay Ritchie and by exploits on the track with newcomer Keanu Kisa in the sprints and Tricia Cervantes in the hurdles. But the back bone has been our distance runners for the past few years. With the trio of Scott Oseguera, Zach Gross, and Doug Palmer on the guys side and Jazmin Romero, Alexa Gozzip and Hannah Gallup on the girls side, the distance runners were solid all season.
Cross Country approaches and all of those mentioned will be leading us towards a possible CIF Finals bid and two more league championships!!!
The boys will be joined by Jaime Guzman, Steven Silva, Justin Coleman and up and coming Freshman David Gozzip to lead a very deep boys team this year. Stephanie Tickemyer the outstanding Softball player will be joining us once again and will solidify our top 4 girls. Losing some girls to graduation and other sports leaves the girls team with not a lot of depth, but if a couple girls can step up for that 5th spot, the girls will be hard to beat.
More coming later......

League Finals
League Finals was another historic day for the program. Both boys and girls Varsity and JV teams were able to sweep the day at Diamond Valley Lake and took the league titles with them. The girls won for the 4 time in a row and the guys won their 4th title in 5 years. In the total exsistance of the Mountain Pass League, both squads have won 4 of the 5 years with San Jacinto girls winning the very first year and the Heritage boys last year.
1st Team all League Winners were Alexa Gozzip, Hannah Gallup, Miranda Chanvez, Stephanie Tickemyer, Scott Oseguera, Zach Gross, Doug Palmer, and Jaime Guzman (8 of 14 possible in the whole league. 2nd team all league includes Joanna Medina, Tara Trevino, Angelo Molina and Justin Coleman. And honorable mention included Erika Mitchell and Brad Parent. The first time ever all 14 varsity members were able to achieve all league status in the same year. This is not even including Jazmin who had to sit out due to illness. Absolutely amazing.

Arcadia Invite
Fast course equals amazing times for both teams.
A historical day for the boys and girls teams. The girls were able to break the school record set a year earlier on the same course and they broke it by almost one full minute. Jazmin Romero was able to tie the school record of 1756 while being followed by Alexa Gozzip at 1810, Hannah Gallup with a 1844, Tara Trevino at 1922, and Stephanie Tickemyer 1956. They ran 1:34:08 and finished in the top 10 overall which is amazing with the school in attendance.
The boys were almost able to upstage the girls with an amazing 1:26 breaking of the old school record running 1:20:49. First time ever we had 3 guys under 16 minutes (the 3,4,6 fastest times ever in school history period) by Scott at 1532, Zach at 1546 and Doug at 1557. Jaime ran a great race with a 1634 and Angelo closed out the scoring at 1700. The boys finished 15th overall in an impressive field.
Tuesday, November 9
Mt Sac Invite
An early morning start leads to some great performance. The girls were able to come within 4 seconds of the school record and look poised to break it at CIF prelims coming up soon. Three girls were able to run under 20 mintues on the day with Jazmin running 1854, Alexa at 1933 and Tara ran 1958.
The guys came out with a purpose today and broke the team school record mark set back in 2008. Having 4 guys under 17 minutes for the first time ever propelled the guys to a school record by around 30 seconds. Scott ran a 1620, Zach (2nd fastest freshman in socal) ran 1621, Doug with a 1647 and Jaime with 1656. The guys are poised to break the record again in a few weeks and maybe make a run at CIF Finals, just like the girls.

Mountain Pass League #2
On a day where we got to dodge most of the rain in the area, it turned out to be a good day on the course. With 10 people running their fastest time of the year, it turned out that we can run pretty good in the cool weather as well as the hot stuff. On the JV side of things, we were able to dominate the girls race and were able to slide by with a 1 point win on the boys side. Joanna Medina for the girls and Brad Parent for the boys were able to dominate their races for the victories.
On the girls Varsity Side, we were able to dominate once again having places 3,4,5 and 6 all for Beaumont and a 20 point win over Hemet. Jazmin Romero, Alexa Gozzip and Hannah Gallup were all under the 20 min barrier while Tara Trevino, Stephanie Tickemyer and Miranda Chavez were all under 2035.
On the boys side, the boys were able to shrink the gap with Hemet, but couldnt close it all the way. We were able to have places 4,5,6, and 8, but Hemet with their 2 front runners was just a little too much on the day. Zach Gross, Scott Oseguera, and Doug Palmer led the way running under 1630, and Jaime Guzman, Justin Coleman, Steven Silva, and Angelo Molina brought our top 7 all in the top 15 overall. Getting closer to those Bulldogs!

Mountain Pass League #1
The first league meet took place yesterday at Noble Creek Park. Beaumont was able to take 3 of the 4 races. The girls Varsity is in prime position to capture their 4th straight title. The boys came up just short to Hemet on the varsity side of things. But with a healthy squad, we believe we can be there right with them and give them a run for their money when it comes to the title. In the JV races, Steven Silva and Stephanie Tickemyer came away with victories and Mark Bergado and Chrisitina Sanchez were right behind them.

Hemet Invitational Brings Big Success
Last Saturday brought more success for the boys and girls. The girls team won the overall team title by over 2 minutes over Temecula Valley and over 3 minutes over rival Hemet HS. With this performance the girls maintained their #9 County Ranking with eyes set ahead a couple spots in those rankings and for our first league meet on Oct. 6th. The girls were led by Jazmin Romero who ran the fastest time in school history on that course. The girls also beat the school record for team time by a little over 20 seconds
The boys took second overall about a minute behind Paloma Valley and a little ahead of Hemet, setting up a classic dual next week in MPL #1. The boys broke the course team record by a handful of seconds compared to the team from 2008. The boys were led by the trio of Scott Oseguera, Doug Palmer and Zach Gross who all ran under 16:25.
With these performances we were awarded the top overall program award trophy which will be a nice addition to the trophy case.

Woodbridge
Last Saturday was the Woodbridge Invitational. This meet is the second largest cross country meet in the entire country and is well known for being a pretty fast course (no matter where it is). With that in mind we had some pretty high standards for ourselves and we did very well. On the girls side, we were led by Jazmin Romero, Alexa Gozzip, Tara Trevino and Hannah Gallup who all ran under 20 minutes. Even though our team time was a little slower than last year, our number 6-20 runners were much faster than previous years.
On the boys side we were led by Scott OSeguera who ran under 16 minutes for the first time in his career, as well as Zach Gross who was the number 1 freshman boy in the entrie meet (over 1000 freshman boys alone), and also Doug Palmer and Jaime Guzman who ran under the 17 min barrier. The boys were only 7 seconds off of the school record that was set two years ago and are primed to break that record at Arcadia at the end of the year.
Woodbridge was a great meet and we are looking forward to this Saturday at the Hemet Bulldog Invitational where we will run against some of the better competition here in Riverside County. The boys freshman ans sophomres will have a very good chance on winning their race as well.

Cross Country 2010 Underway
Two meets down. Thursday we competed in the Xavier Prep Relay Invitational (Each student was paired with two other athletes and they each ran 1.75 Miles). We did very well with the boys winning the meet beating out host Xavier prep and the girls were a close second to La Quinta but if we look at our top 6 runners, we beat them handily. There is a nice write up on the county page which you can find under links to the left here <----------------
Saturday was even better at the fastback shootout held at Mt Sac. We ran the 2 mile version of the course and had our best day ever in school history. The girls finished 9th out of 39 teams including some teams ranked in the top 50 in the state of California. With our performance we moved up one spot to #7 in the county as well. Jazmin Romero led the way placing 21st out of 750 runners while our top 5 girls were on within the top 120 in the entire field. The boys also did well finishing 15th out of 41 schools. Scott Oseguera had the best time which put him 38th out of 950 athletes while Freshman Zach Gross was the top freshman in the entire meet!!!! Our break down of performance can be found in the handout section to the left here. Also a new link to ww.finishedresults.com has been included to the links page that shows all of the overall results.

Track Season 2009
To all associated with Beaumont Track and Field this year should feel great about what was accomplished. The boys won league for the first time since 1999, and the girls finished second behind Heritage. A total of 12 school records fell, with those records being broken 21 times over the course of the season. Javier Perez became the first athlete to ever qualify for CIF in 4 individual events. Brandon Langford broke 6 (yes 6) school records. Victor qualified for the masters meet and was the most improved athlete in the southern section in his event. Ashlee Cervantes continued her domination of this league with another MVP award (totaling 4 overall so far...). We had of the 30 events total, 13 of them we had people ranked in the top 15 in the county overall. Our Seniors led us on the boys side, the Juniors led us on the girls side, but everyone contributed to the cause. The girls will look to beat Heritage next year, and the boys will see if we can defend the title.
There were many more highlights, but that is just the start. Remember the Banquet is June 3rd (Wednesday) at 630pm in the auxiliary gym (bring dessert!!!!)

Mountain Pass League Seed List (Final)
OK, so computers dont want to cooperate tonight. So tomorrow morning the list will be posted on here. Right now some of you have moved up the list due to scratches (Devon Simpson in the 400 is now running!). If you are like number 17 or 18, you still need to come to practice because you are the first two alternates and there is a good chance you could be running. SO be ready. I will have it on here by 930am Saturday morning. Sorry

Boys Inch Closer to that League Title
The second MPL meet went somewhat according to plan. The girls had to have a close to perfect meet, and unfortunately, we fell just a little bit short. Fortunately, at least it wasnt San Jac again!!! But both the boys and girls had some very good performances top to bottom and can hold our heads up high. The boys just need to take care of two more teams and the title is yours! Congrats to the Sprint Medley team and also Ashlee for qualifying for Arcadia. Enjoy the weekend off, and see everyone Monday afternoon.

Cougar Classic Results 2009
Needless to say if you were there, that the Beaumont Cougar Classic did not exactly end the way everyone wanted it to. With the arrival of a swarm of bees who decided to take control of the timing duties ( swarming inside the tent, and ultimately 4 feet away from the finish line on the tripod and boxes the camera was mounted on). Non the less, the meet went pretty well with 19 schools represented in some way, and with some very nice performances. In the handout section to the left, you will find the results for each level. If any coaches see this site, let me know at brandontedrow@hotmail.com if i missed anything in the way of medals etc.

Track Season Kicks Off at Palm Springs
The first meet of the 2009 season went very well. The new athletes performed well, and the returners showed they are here for business. I will post results tomorrow morning on the site and in my room. But some quick highlights; Monika with a 4'10" high jump (amazing for the first time), Jazmin kicking off track season with a 5:49 mile, Victor cruising a 4:44 mile, Javier showing his dominance in the 110 Hurdles, Ashlee showing her ability in the 800, and the boys 4x400 running within 3 seconds of the school record....can you say speedsuits??? Also the girls 4x400 is already 20 seconds faster than last year at this time, and only a handful of seconds off their best last season (and they are all back next year too!!!!)
