BANQUET INFORMATION

Banquet is November 17th (Saturday) at noon at Conner High School Cafeteria.   For the first timers, it is very casual, no need to dress up.  Cookies and punch will be served.

Reminder - The tumbling class at Five Star is year round.  If you were not in the class and wish to start just come in on Thursday night and register.  The cost is $67.50 with a $25 registration fee.  This is a substantial discount.  If you were in the class and are not going to continue please let me know.  Also if you were in the class and did not pay your last tuition (if you came part of the time, we will prorate), please pay as soon as possible.  We do not want the Bearcats getting a bad name.  If you have any questions, please call me.

Also, myself and the rest of the coaches were very proud of the girls at competition.  They did an awesome job!!!!

Thanks to all the parents.  Without your dedication we could not have done it.

 Thanks

 Karen

September 18, 2007

Everyone practices tonight 6:00 - 7:30.  Tomorrow (Wednesday) 6:00 is the pizza party for all girls and boys who raised at least $125 for walk/raffle.  Girls are to bring some kind of finger dessert (cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, etc.)  It is at Boone Woods (behind the YMCA) at the shelter with the playground.

Also, I still have over $400 due in uniform fees.  If it is not paid soon I will have to pay this myself, and trust me I do not want to do this.  If you are having a hard time please let me know.  This does not mean you don't have to pay it, but something every week will help me.  Let's please get this resolved....ASAP

We had a great response two weeks ago for Ms. Bearcat.  Please remember that we asked each family to donate $1 a week to Ms. Bearcat.  Some of you have put in a lump sum (THANK YOU...)  This money goes to a needy family in the league.  As of right now we already have a family from the league (a cheerleader) who has been put in.  The cheerleader has an inoperable brain tumor.  Please help!

Parents once again I am asking you to talk to your cheerleader.  The lack of respect that the girls (starters/midgets) are giving the coaches is out of control.  I can honestly say that in my 8 years of doing this it has never been this bad.  It's pretty bad when I have coaches wanting to quit!!!  I am going to ask the parents to bring their chairs and sit closer to our practices.  Maybe if the parents are there watching closely the behavior may improve. We want to be able to do fun things at practice but we cant include them because of the amount of time it takes to accomplish anything.  Remember we are in competition mode and we have a lot of new stuff to learn.   We still have girls who dont know were to go for the field cheer or even know the field cheer.  This is a team sport and if you daughter starter or midget does not want to compete then please tell us now so we can take them out of the routine.  I don't want them to be embarrassed during competition because they don't know the routine.

We have come up with a new cheer for the starters that is much shorter and easier.  This will be the one they are doing for competition.  We may also do it a few times for the field cheer to give them practice in front of people.

 Thank you.

 Karen

September 8th, 2007

Please click on "Calendar" to the  left to get game times and practices for the month of September.  If a practice is to be added or changed I will notify you at practice and will also post on the website.

September 6, 2007

Its that time of year....ready to start competition practices...this means....

1.  All practices are mandatory... only two unexcused absences or you can not compete.  Practices are not an option.  If you don't know your cheer/routine you can not compete with the team.  Starters and midgets compete separately but win as a team.

2.  We can practice up to three times a week.  We may be adding practices as we get closer to competition.  These will be mandatory.

3.  If you need my number again please ask.  If you don't call, your absence is unexcused...Remember we are a team!

4.  Please wear your uniform including hairbow and socks to games...We still have a few without game shoes but hopefully they will be in soooon.

5.  We still have a number of families that have not turned in team fee, soda, uniform money.  Please turn in ASAP.

6.  Walk and Raffle Participation.. Thanks so much to those who participated and reached your goal...This money goes to the end of the year gifts for the boys and girls...I know everyone did not meet their goal but we appreciate any attempt to try to reach the goal.

7.  One more thing, yes it involves money.  I am asking that each family try to donate $1 a week to Miss Bearcat...This is less than $10.00.  We have been having very poor participation from fans, etc at the games...Please know that this money goes to a needy family in the community.  Last year 3 families in our league were blessed around Thanksgiving time with a nice cash gift to help them get through the holidays...If you know of a family please let me know.

Thanks

Karen

August 29, 2007

Starter game is Saturday 9/1 at 9:00 (be there by 8:30)

Midget game is Sunday at 9:00 (be there by 8:30)

Parents,

Please try not to be late.  If  you daughter is not there to practice the field cheer before the game she will not participate in the half-time cheer.  If she is not there on time I usually will replace her because I probably think she is not coming to the game.  PLEASE BE ON TIME!!

We are having a lot of missed practices.  If you are going to miss please call me.  I really dont want to post my number on the website so if you need it get it from Andrea or myself.  Attendance is very important and mandatory.

If you havent met your goal of $125 for walk/raffle we have plenty of tickets left.  Please help our girls have one of the best years ever!!  This is important as a team.  Encourage your daughter to sell those tickets....If they meet the $125 they get to go to the pizza party and possibly pie a coach in the face (football coaches only), at least tell them that.

Also, we still have many girls who do not know the field cheer.  Please work with your daughter at home.  If you dont feel like your child is getting the proper attention, I apologize for this.  However, they have to want to do this.  We try to encourage as much as possible.  Please talk to your cheerleader and make sure they want to continue.  We will be starting competition practice soon.  This is judged and if they dont want to compete let me know.  Yes, this is recreational however Bearcats take this competion serious and practices will get tougher...

Again, I encourage you to talk to your daughters about respect and listening.  If they are not listening then they are not learning.....

 Thanks,

 Karen

NO STARTER PRACTICE TONIGHT.... IF YOU PARTICIPATE IN THE TUMBLING CLASS IT IS STILL HAPPENING....

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR UNIFORM YOU WILL NEED TO CALL ME (KAREN) TO GET YOUR STUFF.....

Per Denise (boys team mom) the socks will not be in for this weekends games at PBS.  Please wear just plain low ankle white socks.  Questions regarding PBS, please see below.

August 7th - We will have practice today....We have to pass out uniforms, etc.  If you owe money you can not get your uniform until it is paid for.  You will need your uniform for Saturday Paul Brown Stadium games.

  Week of August 6th
Monday and Tuesday all cheerleaders will practice at Idlewild Park 6:30 - 8:00.  Thursday, August 9 the starters will practice at Five Star Gymnastics and Cheerleading from 6:15 - 7:30. Please remember to wear tennis shoes and socks even if you are in the tumbling class from 5:00 - 6:00.  Also, if you are in the class, you can bring a snack to eat between class and practice.

August 11th is Walk-A-Thon for midgets.  They will need to report at Burlington Elementary at 8:30.

August 11th is also Paul Brown Stadium Bowl Games.  Starters will need to report at 11:15.  Midgets will need to report at 4:45. Report to Gate A (Corner of Mehring Way and Central Avenue).

There is an admission fee of $8.00 per adult (this includes coaches).  Ages 12 and under are free.  Parking is approximately $4.00 at the Hill top Lot (Mehring Way and Central Avenue).  Also lot E south of the stadium is available.  Fees should be comparable.

August 12 at the Game Field - Starters have a game at 10:00, report at 9:30, midgets have a game at 12:00, report at 11:30.  This is also field duty for the cheerleaders.  We need parent volunteers to sign up for the concession stand.  This is our only field duty this season unless we loose in the playoffs.  It is mandatory for cheerleaders to come to the field and also do field duty for this day.  We are a team......please dont make it always the same girls who do it all.....  They need to do at least 2 hours each.  However if you are signed up for field duty, please have your cheerleader doing field duty while you are there....
