Sterling Pool Closed for Maintainence
The Sterling pool has been shut down to bring our pool drain system upto state code. They will have to empty the pool to do the work so we will be out ofthe pool for all activities through Wednesday, June 10th. This also means that we will have to postpone our meet with HarborTide. Their pool is booked this weekend. We have the option to hold a mini-meet to allow the kids to earn anadditional participation and post official times for Champs. I have sent this note to as many email addresses as I can find. Please help out by forwarding this to other parents and swimmers. We don't want someoneto miss the notice.
Early Practice Canceled on Wednesday, June 3rd
The 4:30-5:30 practice on Wednesday, June 3rd is canceled due to a high school function. There will be practice that day from 5:30-6:30.
Buccaneers Outswim Dogfish
The LaPorte Dogfish hosted the Baytown Buccaneers on May30th in the second dual meet of the season. The two teams had their first meeting in more than four years at the Sterling Natatorium, as the LaPorte Natatorium is closed for remodeling. There were many close races, but at the final lap, Baytown managed the win with a score of 442 to 302. High point earners for Baytown included Katie Vasquez, Jake Cullum, Logan Fanning, Abbey Houghton, Callie Woodruff, Gabe Chaps, and Nick Cullum, each with 15 points. Following closely was Sydney Phillips with 13 points. Rounding out the top scorers were Ixzel Amador, Aaron Arabie, Gaby Chen, and Taylor Sharp, each with 10 points.
Many swimmers achieved a time quick enough to qualify them for the Championship Meet at the end of the season. Those swimmer achieving such a time in one or more events include Callie Woodruff, Natalie Pence, Abbey Houghton, Logan Fanning, Jake Cullum, Katie Vasquez, Madison Pepper, Ryan Fugere, Devin Martin, Tommy Goodman, Sydney Phillips, Nick Cullum, Eunice Alaniz, Amy Olsen, Gabe Chapa, Taylor Sharp, William Coggins, Gaby Chen, Allie Hill, Cade Moorman, Kaci New, Laurel Pinkley, Connor Woodruff, Mark Coggins, John Coggins, Ricky Flores, and Josh Houghton.
In addition, some swimmers made the Reserve Cut-off in one or more events. These swimmers include Lauren Gray, John Coggins, Kyleigh Fanning, Ixzel Amador, Sydney Phillips, Aaron Arabie, Justin Bradford, Rachel Lahowotz, Nettie Bryant, Adulfo Amador, Caroline Olsen, Sabrina Gray, and Justin Bradford

Pearland bests Buccaneers
Over 200 Pearland Pirates descended upon the Baytown Sterling Natatorium on Saturday morning for the first dual meet of the summer swim season (and the first time these two teams have ever met). The Baytown Buccaneers, this year moving to a larger team division, had only 106 mateys on-deck to fight off the Pirates. The result was a sound thrashing: 492-275 in favor of Pearland.
Despite the score at the end of the meet, all of the participants had fun. Baytown’s highest point earners for the meet were Taylor Sharp and Katie Vasquez, who each earned 15 points. Following closely on their heels were Eunice Alaniz with 12 points, Gaby Chen with 10 points, and William Coggins with 9 points. Rounding out the top scorers were Darla Vasquez and Logan Fanning, each having scored 8 points.

Additionally, some swimmers posted Reserve times in one or more events including John Coggins, Mark Coggins, Michael Murillo, Kevin Trejo, Amber Avant, Melanie Butler, Ixzel Amador, Lauren Gray, Kyleigh Fanning, Adulfo Amador, Callie Woodruff and Justin Bradford.
The LaPorte Dogfish will host the Baytown Buccaneers at Sterling Natatorium on Saturday, May 30th. Go Bucs!
2009 Registration Dates Set!
The Baytown Buccaneers are gearing up for the summer swim season. Registration dates are set:
Early Registration: Saturday, April 4th from 9am til 12 noon at the RSS Pool.
Regular Registration: Saturday, April 18th from 9am til 12 noon at the RSS Pool.
Registration fees per Family (siblings): $90 for first child, $60 for each additional sibling
Volunteer Fee per Family (siblings): $50
The regular season begins Monday, May 11th. Early session starts at 4:30pm; Late session starts at 5:30pm. See you at the pool!
2009 Rookie Camp
The RSS Swim Team and Coaches, your 2007 and 2008 State Water Polo Champions, are proud to host Rookie Camp 2009
Rookie Camp will be held Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th at the RSS Natatorium from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The cost of the camp is $25
Swimmers with less than two years of swim team experience are encouraged to participate in camp. Campers get the benefit of smaller groups and more individualized instruction prior to the official start of swim team season. It is also a great place for first timers to try-out the swim team experience prior to registering for the season.
