This is where we practice
8/23/12- This is the web site for the St.Louis 11U Backyard Bomber baseball team. Based out of Chesterfield, Mo. we practice and play some of our games right in our own back yard baseball field. We will use this site to communicate various practices, games or comments in general about our team!!! We'll see you soon!! Update:We now live in Louisville, KY but still enjoy the website, and remembering all the families and fun we had there!! Check out Christian and Rex's Youtube highlight video for football. (Christian Wallace Football and Rex Wallace Football will get you there).
OZZIE SMITH VISITS THE BACKYARD BOMBERS!
It's been said that if you build it...they will come. Well, they just did!! The 10U Backyard Bombers experienced the thrill of a life time when Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith paid them a visit! Not only did Ozzie visit with all the kids, but when he hit the field, school was truly in session. Ozzie not only shared some great stories about how he learned how to play, he actually demonstrated. Rex and Ozzie were actually turning double plays! What a great experience for everyone. Thank you Ozzie!!
Post Dispatch Article...
2/20/02 - Bomber field makes the news! This past August the Post Dispatch featured our baseball field on the cover of the Lifestyle magazine and did a very nice article on us. Over 300,000 people get the Saturday Post, so the word is out on the Back Yard Bombers 7U baseball team.
Building the field....
2/10/02 - Just a quick history of our field and team. When I decided to build a field in the back yard it was (what some would consider) a bit of a risk. I had no idea what I was doing. My dad (a former h.s. baseball coach) had actually done this back in the 60's and gave me some pointers. He made some sketches on a napkin at dinner one night. So, equipped with those "architectural drawings", I set out to build our version of the "field of dreams". Since that time (April of 2001)we have had many visitors to our field. Lots, of kids, parents, practices and games. We were even featured on the cover of the St.Louis Post Dispatch's Lifestyle Magazine in August of 2001. The St.Louis NBC affiliate (KSDK channel 5) did a feature on our "field of dreams". Turned out it was replayed at the end of the year as one of their top feature stories done that year. At this site you'll see some of the original pictures we took while building the field.
