Good sportsmanship will result in a safe, wholesome and ethical environment in which our players and families can experience both the exhilaration of competition and the fun of being a part of a team sport.
Good Sportsmanship Behavior
Be a good sport. Treat game officials, coaching staff, trainers and opposing team members with respect. Accept the decision of game officials. Learn the rules of the game. If you are knowledgeable about the game, you will better understand the actions of the coaches and referees, leading to fewer misunderstandings and more enjoyment of your soccer experience.
Be there for your team. Show up to practices and games equipped to play. If it is unavoidable that you must miss a practice or game, call your coach.
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Swearing or rude comments at officials or players.
Rude behavior or remarks on or off the field, including ethnic intimidation.
Aggressive movements toward officials or players.
Gloating the win, or complaining at the loss.
Refusing to shake hands with an opponent
Hurting the opponent during the handshake.
Name calling or laughing at opponent.
Consuming drugs or alcohol before or during a soccer game or practice.
Showing up unprepared for a game or practice.
Not showing up without calling coach.
The Blue Water Soccer Club will not tolerate poor sportsmanship.
