The Blue Water Soccer Club was established in late 1999 by a group of local soccer enthusiasts. The vision of the club was to provide an opportunity for area athletes to play competitive soccer. The Spring 2000 season was the club’s introduction into MYSL. We started with a whopping two teams (a U-12 girls and a U-19 boys). The following year we grew to nine teams, and have maintained a similar level of involvement.
The founding members were Bruce Douglas, Steve Gilbert, Dave Fry, Hrant Hratchian, and Don Snyder. This group wanted to encourage players to join from a larger geographic region. The natural drift was toward adopting the name of the area that the players lived in. The Blue Water Soccer Club was born. Additional club recognition of “The Lakers” has its roots with a team Bruce Douglas and Steve Gilbert coached. Blue Water Lakers was chosen as the name for teams playing in The Blue Water Soccer Club.
