Lady Warriors finish the season with 26-7 record
The Lady Warriors season ended last night to a good Gibson County team. Most people did not think you would make it back to your 3rd AA Sectional in a row because of the talent you lost to graduation. Starting four juniors and a freshman, you manage a 26 win season league, district, and city championship and a regional runner-up. We thought our season would end with a gold ball and a championship but hay! We tried to get back to the State but fell short.
Tonight, BTW's youth was exposed to as they entered a hostile crowd at Gibson County. Gibson County came out with a good game plan and rattled us early. Before they knew it BTW was 17 points down. Jaquita Burt scored the teams only 7 points in the first quarter. Freshman Laquaris Harris scored all 8 of her points in the 2nd quarter as BTW gather their compusure and finally found their stride, but Gibson County shot the ball very well to maintain their lead. The Lady Warriors will pressure Gibson County into 24 turnovers and foul trouble but Gibson County continued to shoot the ball well. Burt finished with 17 points and showed why her stock has risen as a prospect. Daria Hester finished with a team high 18 points in a showing that impressed both the crowd and coaching staff of Gibson County.
So to my young ladies I am proud of you and the season you had. We will work hard over the summer and go back at it next year. To our only two senior we will miss you. To the rest of AA BTW will be back next year.
