BTAA Meeting Minutes

November11, 2013

 

 

Meeting called to order:  8:20

 

ACTION ITEMS:

EXECUTIVE REPORT:

Vince Spina – Had annual Twp. budget meeting.  Vince, Shanen and Jill attended.         Twp agreed to allot $40,000 to BTAA again this year.  Discussed indoor bathroom facilities.  Commissioners said they will look into it next year.

 

John Koch – No report

 

Jill Volkert – Wrestling and basketball coaches info. needed for background checks.

 

Shanen Hoke – BTAA put in full page as in the FHS Basketball Program.

 

COORIDNATOR/COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

SOCCER – as per Tony Raffino

  • Season went well

  • 3 Championship teams from Tournament

  • Preparing for spring sign ups

  • Indoor soccer concluded

 

FOOTBALL – as per Chris Karabinus

  • 120’s won championship.  Congrats. to John Koch retiring from 14 yrs. coaching Bulldogs.

  • Looking into new shoulder pads.

  • Helmets due for reconditioning.

 

CHEERLEADING – as per Angel Weed

  • 2 Competitions; Flags took 5th and 3rd, 100s took 2nd and 2nd, 120s took 4th and 3rd.                       2 more competitions remain.

  • $5,500 profit from our “Stand Up and Cheer“ Competition.     22 teams participated.

 

WRESTLING – as per Keith Lyden

  • 65 sign ups, and another 6 that will probably register after first week.  Numbers are up 30% since I took over.

  • Practice started

  • Have over 40 kids in downstairs room.  Very crowded.   Talked with Diane Jordan about rolling mats in hallway to give more room waiting for her reply. 

  • We will be wrestling in a few pre season tournaments and season starts December 8.  We open with a home match and have a second home match in January.   If high school decides not to open concessions stand we will put together a small one ourselves in the hallway

     

 

CONCESSIONSas per Shanen Hoke

  • July to November about $8,000 profit.

  • Vince reported that next season we are looking to install a code keypad.

 

LACROSSE – as per Jon Nicholas

  • Lining up coaches

  • Looking at a playing time guideline written up by John Shay.

  • Boys Lacrosse clinic was a success; Made $200.00

  • Looking to do a clinic for girls.

  • Thanks to Wilson Hoke, Jason Bevan, Brian Palaima and Tom Fekula for their help.

 

BASKETBALL –as per Bob Norder

  • Signups are hopefully complete.

  • Evaluations were yesterday and the teams will be selected this week.

  • Practices should start next week.
     

SOFTBALL – as per Rich Sheffer

  • League just passed age level structure change to grade based.

  • Pre-season prep going well.  Several community service projects available.

  • 12/14 – “Town Hall Meeting” scheduled for softball info.

 

 

OTHER Introduction and recognition of Boys Soccer teams

          Garcia Cup – 3 Boys teams Champions

  • 1st place – U10A with coach Brian Lynn

  • 4th place in season/1st place in Tournament – U12B with coach Kevin Graney

  • 2nd place in reg. season/1st place in Tournament – U14B with coach Scott Chomitzky

 

Webmaster – John Scanlan

  • Online registrations were very low.  Hopefully next round will increase.

 

COURTESY OF THE FLOOR

  • Barb Dadio offered to build an email data base if all the coordinators send her their sport’s email addresses.

  • Bill Safranek donated a check for $2,500 from Fancy Fotos.

  • Frank Grillo said Northside field is full of holes.  Safety issue that needs addressing.
