BTAA Meeting Minutes
September 14, 2009
Meeting called to order: 8:10
ACTION ITEMS:
• Minutes from August’s meeting read and accepted by members.
Motion to accept: John Shay 2nd Lou Colangelo
• Treasurer’s report read by Vince Spina in Donna Grenauer’s absence. Copies available upon request.
Motion to accept: Tom Czerwinski 2nd John Shay
EXECUTIVE REPORT:
Vince Spina -
• Encourages parents to complete a survey on ResponsibleSports.com website
for BTAA to be eligible to be entered into a drawing to receive a $2,500. grant.
• Total of Lottery calendars $5,454. It was brought to Vince’s attention that some would not participate in this fundraiser because “it was for football.” The monies go to ALL sports, not just football. Thanks to all who sold tickets and participated in this fundraiser.
John Koch - absent
Cathy Shay –Spring Sports Coordinator nominations are now.
Jill Volkert - No report.
Donna Grenauer - absent
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
Nominations for Lacrosse: Joe Conzola - accepts
Softball: John Grenauer – not present
Dean Stonehouse –accepts
Next month is final nominations and voting.
COORDINATOR / COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SOCCER as per Tom Czerwinski
• Program underway
• Keith helped out with lining the fields.
• Will check into spirit ware and picture day.
• Questioning condition of the “new” fields. Vince will contact Jon Hammer.
LACROSSE - as per Joe Conzola
• Questioning fields for the spring.
• Talk that league may change the age requirements to grade requirement.
• Receiving many emails about Lacrosse from outside the twp. areas. Been telling them that if there is room on the team after the twp. kids are placed, they would most likely have to supply their own equipment.
SOFTBALL: No Report
CONCESSIONS - as per Lorie Dosedlo
Everything is going well.
FOOTBALL- as per Vince Spina
• 2 of 3 trophy games vs. the Raiders. 105’s and125’s both won.
• Played first home game.
• Sat. 9/19 is picture day.
• Fri. is “Bulldog Night” at Freedom
• 9/13 was Kick-off /Pep Rally. Coach Roeder gave a talk.
CHEERLEADING - as per Annette Mease
• Indoor practices began today.
• Invitations for our competition on 11/22 went out.
• Since there is no cheering squad for the 80lb. team, each of the cheering squads is taking turns cheering for their games.
BASKETBALL as per Mike Melnyck
• Inventorying everything
• Oct. is evals for 6, 7 and 8th grades @ BTCC
• 2 teams for boys’ Pates
• 3 teams for girls’ Pates.
• 5th grade boys may play for a more competitive team, similar to a
“pre-Pates” team out toward the Parkland area.
WRESTLING as per Lou Colangelo
• 10/26 Parent meeting @ BTCC at 6:00.
• 11/22 is first practice.
• Leases are approved for practice times. Still waiting for leases for the matches.
• First league meeting is tomorrow.
• Planning tournament with FHS’s Booster Club for this year.
