Thanks to Vince and crew for getting us totally out of the old storage units.

The Twp. will replace lights on the field that are burned out, but did not know that they were responsible. They will pave the 13/14’s field’s quagmire and possibly the 11/12 field‘s, as well.

BASD Facility Fees

On 4/14 Bill Dosedlo met with Fred Harris. The school district passed a new rule, that they will charge Class 2 organizations, (which we are) for weekend gym use. We will have to pay custodians and a Site Manager at all elementary schools, East Hills and Freedom HS. A Site Manager is required for games. There are anywhere from 5 - 20 games per weekend.

Janitor rate is $32.00/hr. Site Manager rate is $32.00/hr.

We use 4 elementary schools x 8 hrs. - E. Hills x 8 hrs. - Freedom most Saturdays. Equals

about 60 hrs. of use. That comes to about $1,920.00 for Saturdays, approximately $2,500.00/weekend for a Janitor and Site Manger. There are about 15 weekends during the season for gym use,($37,000.) Basketball must find ways to cut back.

Tom suggested one way to recoup money is to set a surcharge at registration for each child. That comes to $80.00 per child in basketball, too much money to pay.

Bob Reinert suggested we do a sport wide fundraiser.

Will form a “Gym fee study committee” to meet before our next meeting.

Trying to get the match and practice leased set before the end of the school year.

Admission charged for meets is $2.00/adult and $1.00/child.

Fred Harris said he will try to get us the “Big” gym.

FHS Coach Jeff Karam resigned and went to BECA. Freedom is looking for a new wrestling coach.

13/14’s begin tomorrow, Sr.s begin 5/19.

Cages are completed. Shed set up for pitching machine and new longer extension cord. Thanks to Bill Bonners, Glenn Ferrera and Jesse Mowrey for their help. Combination is all zeros for the box there. Thanks to Dean Stonehouse and Charlie Deichman for installing the pitching rubbers on the 9/10 and 11/12 fields.

6/29 hosting Sr.s Tournament on 13/14 field. Concession stand will bw open.

6/22 Mini Tournament for T Ball and Coach Pitch teams for end of season celebration,

4:00 - 7:00 on 9/10 and 11/12 fields.

Overseers are working well.

Names of available Community Service Volunteers are written on the master schedule in stand, to call if needed.
