Big Spring Aquatic Club-- Summer Swimming

Swim Team

The Big Spring Aquatic Club (BSAC) will begin its summer swim season on Monday, May 14.  The team is made up of boys and girls from pre-school through high school.  We compete against other swim teams in the area.  We welcome all new and returning members!  

Prerequisite to join the team:  Your child must be able to swim the length of the pool Freestyle and Backstroke unassisted or have passed level III Red Cross swim instruction.

Practice Times:  Monday through Friday 5:15-7:00 p.m. beginning Monday, May 14 through Friday, June 1.  Then Monday through Thursday 5:15 - 7:00 p.m through the end of July.   Additional practices available Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00 -7:30 a.m. for ages 11 and up beginning Monday, June 11 through the end of July.  All swimmers are expected to attend at least 3 practices per week.

Meets:  Swim meets begin in mid-June and run through July on Saturday mornings.  Dates will be included with the information packet handed out at our mandatory parents meeting on Friday, May 18.

Mini Swim Team

If your child loves the water but is not quite able to swim the length of the pool unassisted, then our mini team may be for them.  They will be learning the four competitive swim strokes and how to dive off the block.  Mini swimmers will even participate at home meets.

Practice Times:  5:15 - 7:00 Monday, May 14 - Friday May 18, then Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:15 - 7:00 until the end of July. 

How to Join

Registration:  You must register your child to be a part of BSAC during our open registration time Monday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 9 anytime between 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the Big Spring High School Pool.  If you absolutely cannot make it during that time you must contact Dan Feathers (ddfthrs@comcast.net or 385-3869) to make other arrangements.  A late fee of $5 will be assessed for registrations after May 9 if prior arrangements have not been made.  No child will be allowed to swim until they are registered and paid.

Our swimsuit sizing kit will be available at registration so if you would like to have your child sized, please bring them along.

Costs to join BSAC 

1st swimmer = $110

2nd swimmer from same family = $80

3rd + swimmers from same family = $55 each

Mini Team Swimmers = $55 each

Every BSAC family is responsible for a single $30 snack bar fee to be paid at registration.

1-Week Trial-- If you are new to BSAC and want to take advantage of our 1-week trial, you still must come to open registration.  The cost of the trial is $20 and will be applied to the cost of joining the swim team or mini swim team if you decide to join at the end of the one week trial period.  $20 is NOT refundable.
