Dear League Members,
We proudly launched our season Friday night with a great show of community spirit. We honored our city officials, our past presidents and our AllStar teams. We successfully received a dozen first pitches and capped the whole event off with the National Anthem and a show case A Ball exhibiition game with the NorCal Blast and Salinas Magnum Force. Kudos to all for making the event a very enjoyable evening. Best wishes for your entire season. Play Ball!! Click the title link for access to the full set of pictures available for download.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated and/or helped in our annual player's clinic today! Thanks for supporting the league, and for promoting the great sport of fastpitch softball. We got lucky with the weather, and had a great turnout! There was a ton of great instruction from the Nor-Cal Blast player's and coaches, a ton of learning by our participants, and most importantly, tons of smiles all around!!! I'd also like to thank all of the parents that showed up for the field prep demo. That's an important job, and hey, now you all get to drive a cool tractor! Thanks again for coming out today, and I look forward to seeing your daughter's put their newly learned skills to use this season! Regards,
John Bouchard

Many volunteers + good weather = 1 productive day! Thank you to everyone who came out. We made a huge dent in our facility needs which included distributing 8 tons of field material, resetting plates, adding new base pegs for new 8U dimensions, constructing a permenant equipment shed ramp, new bull pen plates, transforming McDougal field #2, inventorying, cleaning and organizing all field boxes and equipment sheds, repairs to bleachers, resetting lock combinations, edging all fields and one large dump run. Only a few odds and ends remain but far less than we expected.

The Belmont-Redwood Shores Softball League held their first out of three pitching clinics on January 7, 2012. It was a clear and sunny day at the College of San Mateo. Approximately 20 young ladies came out to express their passion for pitching. (Hosted by CSM pitching instructors Nicole and Michelle.)
- Lucy (age 10) working with Coach Frank on her pitching technique. She has been playing softball for one year and thought pitching looked like a fun activity to do. Great choice Lucy!
- Madeleine (age 7) is working with pitching coach Nicole. Madeleine has been playing softball for two years and thought pitching would be fun to try. Her favorite baseball player is Freddy Sanchez. GO GIANTS!
- Carson (age 8) has been playing softball for three years. When asked why she had started pitching, she said: "Ooo! Pithcing!". Her favorite baseball players is Buster Posey.
- Camille (age 7) working with pitching coach Nicole. Camille has been playing for two years and began pitching because "it looked fun". Her favorite baseball player is Tim Lincecum. (Belmont girls love the Giants!)

Facility Updates for 2012 – Enclosed Dugouts for McDougal Field #2 and Secure Storage at the Belmont Sports Complex
Acknowledgements for all the volunteers and supporters who helped take another step forward with the McDougal Park softball facilities. Thanks to:
- Pete Mason – President in 1991 who brought the league from Bobbysox to ASA and drew a vision for McDougal park that we now move closer towards.
- Joe Reyes – President 2009-2011 who started the project ball rolling with Belmont Parks and Rec.
- Dave Iman of Iman Construction – for taking the technical lead on the project to lay the foundation and doing the work he normally reserves for his crews which is too numerous to mention here. This project does not happen without Dave.
- Bob Warfield – for his artistry with cement and working through the 49’s payoff game 1 with Dave Iman and Ron Gomez to see the cement pour through to the brushed end.
- Volunteers - Greg Snelling, Mike Shipley, John Bouchard, Ron Gomez, Chuck Velschow, Ismo Karhiaho, Joe Phipps, Rob Sylber, John and Yi Yi Uozumi, Bal Kay, Eloy Sauceda, Steve Rianda and Mark “Big Daddy” Ewing for answering the call on “ditch digging” day 1.
- Daniel Ourtiague – Belmont Parks and Rec for getting behind the Dugout project from the beginning, supporting our need for secure storage at the complex and contributing the dugout fence work.
- Belmont Parks and Rec Crew – for the back hoe and labor to situate the Complex Storage Container.
- Marty at All Fence, Inc. – for “the plan” and going above and beyond on the little things to make the finished product shine.
- Harbor Ready Mix and K&L Concrete Pumping - for coming out on a Saturday to help us out and lending us tools.
- San Bruno 2010 10U Girls Fallball Team – for laughing at our dugouts, the motivation we needed to get the project off the ground.
