MY FINAL GAME
![]() |
My Knight Brothers,
I am writing you to confirm that I am playing my last game for the Knights effective after our final home game of the season vs. the Placer County Bears. I will be concentrating on going back to school & taking care of my family.
It is hard to walk away from a team in my eyes that has given me the opportunity to play a game that I LOVE and to be amongst players, coaches and owners who shared the same goals: To win. To compete. From the very start of being apart of the Knights team I found the energy and the competitive spirit that I never lost. I may have lost a couple of steps here and there, but I believe I was able to make up for that with studying the game, being aware of what is going on in the game and hustle. I wasn't and I'm not the fastest and I'm not that hardest hitter but I can say that I worked hard, I tried to be a leader by showing what I can do and I hustled my butt off. As a coach I tried to show that I gave players a chance to prove themselves and a chance to play the game that they love and to try and coach them to be the best player possible.
I have been fortunate to have experienced a variety of players and people. Some who have passed thru the Knights and have gone on to other teams, to the veterans who were there when I first started (and some are still here). I have learned from all these players in some form or another. I thank you. To the veterans that were here in the beginning that brought me along when I first started and went into battle with: Mitch, Vic, Bart, Coffee, Nash, Tino, Art, Ferrari, Lee, Toro, Billy Carlisle, Dsvid Davis, Shamare, Lopez, Jason Heard, Quincy, Charles, Couch, Ollie, Bias, Jimmy, Justin, Steve, Drew, Desmond, Delmas. Thank you vets for your hustle, passion, "tough" love and humor.
To the coaches: Mitch, Ed West, Delmas, thank you for your guidance and you ideals and opening my eyes to a different part of fooball coaching.
To the players/Coaches that came after me who have contributed in so many ways and have showed no giving up when we played on the battlefield and when I coached them.
To MY CORE, MY LA ONDA: Socrates, Jr. Jorge, Manny, Chris, Bias, David Lee, Neil, Sam. and Coach "Pops"Socrates, you have been nothing but the hard working tough players I knew you would be and are. I am glad I was able to be on the football field of battle with you. Thanks for believing in me when others didn't. Thanks for sticking it out with me when other wouldn't.
To Omar "Agent O" & Angelo, thanks for all your sweat, blood, determination and HEART. "O" I wish we could have had more time to do more damage on the field, but I have to say that I think we left a nice mark when we were on the field. Angelo, keep running hard and keep running strong, you got a bright future ahead of you.
I want to thank the Owner/Coach/Player Mitch Lockett for beleiving in me as a player and as a coach. I appreciate the chances you have given me and showing me the ways of running an organization. The difficulties and the rewards. The ups and the downs. It has been a learning experience for me. You gave me the space I needed but also the tough lessons in order for me to be as ready as I can.
To those players that are new to the Knights and/or new to this level of football, here are a few things that I think you need to be successfull.
*You have to work at getting better * Don't give up
* Don't be a mouth piece and talk about what you can do. Just do it! Get out on the field and show it. When you do that actions speak a whole lot louder than just words. *Learn to listen to what is being instructed *Learn the game and know what your responsibilities are. * Be a leader * Always feel that you can improve yourself, because there is someone else that is trying to to be better than you. * win your position! Beat the man in front of you * Be a team mate * Have fun!
I will defintely be around and will check in on the team from time to time. If you ever need to pick my brain about football or anything, you got my digits.
I'M AN ALAMEDA COUNTY KNIGHT!
I CHOSE TO WEAR THESE COLORS!
I WORE THEM WITH PRIDE! I WORE THEM WITH HONOR!
