Brandywine Warriors History
YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEERLEADING IN DELAWARE SINCE 1963
The original Brandywine Warriors football team was founded in 1963 by Paul Zarnhoff, and consisted of 24 boys from his neighborhood. The founding of this team represented the beginning of organized youth football in the Brandywine Hundred communities of northern Delaware. In 1967 the organization incorporated as "The Brandywine Warriors Youth Football, Inc." in order to accommodate the financial and management aspects of a rapidly growing football program. Since the formative years of the Brandywine Warriors, the program has expanded to serve the youth in the Wilmington and Claymont area. Young men and women (age 5 – 13) from the area participate in football and cheerleading programs. Our football and cheerleading program continues to grow with the support of the many adult volunteers who give countless hours every year. These volunteers ensure that the opportunity to play football and participate in cheerleading under the guidance of competent coaches (many of whom are former Warriors Football players themselves) and with the highest quality equipment available, to all youths in Wilmington and Claymont who wish to participate. Since the beginning of the program, the Brandywine Warriors organization has recognized that the game of football offers more than just the opportunity to participate in athletic competition. Our mission is to provide an organized, closely supervised, youth football program that enables participants to have fun while learning the basic principals that are important to a successful adult life. For the 2003 season the Brandywine Warriors joined the Bert Bell Memorial Football Conference The Brandywine Warriors are proud to be a part of the 43 year old league. The Brandywine Warriors and Bert Bell Memorial Football Conference are dedicated in their efforts in providing competitive football and cheerleading in Northern Delaware.
