Devils Finish Playoffs In Second Place

The Devils played the Bruins today sunday April 14th in the final game of the Championship series. The lead during the game changed multiple times but when the game was over the Bruins came out on top 6-5. The Devils played a great game and everyone should hold their heads up high for having a great season.

The Third Line of Bobby Freed, Nicholas Cancel, Sage Sapperstein, Anthony Barnao, and Sean Bottallico all played a good game. This line during the season has greatly improved. All the players are now skating and trying to play the puck. In todays game Nicholas cancel scored the teams first goal of the game on an assist from Bobby Freed. Anthony Barnao scored the fist goal of his BMRH carreer later in the game when he banged home a rebound past the Bruins goaltender. keep practicing during the offseason, I can't wait to see how much you all have improved by next season!

The Second Line of Thomas Connors, Keith Keogh, Patrick Lincoln, Daniel Corona and Steve Randazzo played a fantastic series. They limited their opponents to two shots on net during the whole series while scoring 6 goals themselves. This line was solid all season both offensively and defensively. During todays game Thomas Connors had a goal and an assist, Patrick Lincoln had a goal and Daniel Coroana had an assist. Great job by all!!

The First Line of Liam Connors, Justin Cancel, Troy Mc Ardle, Zachary daddino, and Santino Faulkner played this series against what most coaches agree is the deepest and highest scoring first line in the division. The defensive style of hockey that we played kept us in the game today and ensured us a legitimate chance of winning. This line fought to the end and with a little more time may have even tied this game up if given the chance. Liam Connors scored the lines only goal today late in the final period on an assist from Justin Cancel.

The Defensemen for all three line Boby Freed, Sage Saperstein, Steve Randazzo, Daniel Corona, Santino Faulkner, and Zachary daddino should be applauded for their fine play all season and in the playoffs. In a position which is under appreciated these boys all played there without complaining and gave their all in every game.

Finally what can be said about our goalie Noah Wekselblatt! He was one of two actual Freshman age goalie in the division. He made improved so much during the season and during many times he kept us in the game. Today he made one fantastic kick save late in the game that kept in the game. Thanks for all your hard work and great play!

The season is over and I would like to thank all the players for all their hard work both in the games and practices. I would like to thank all the parents for supporting their children and getting to them to all their games and practices even when we had scheduling conflicts. Finally I would like to thank Al Corona for being a such a good and dedicated assistant coach. It makes all the hard work so much easier. I hope to see you all next year. I will do my best in the draft to get you all back, but other coaches have been doing their homework and will try to draft many of you before I get the chance. See you all soon.

Devils Win First Game in Championship Round

On Sunday April 6th the Devils and Bruins squared off in the first game of the Champioship Round. The Devils stuck to their game plan for and were able to come out on top and defeat the Bruins 6-3.

The Devils First line of Liam Connors, Troy McArdle, Justin Cancel, Zachary Daddino, and santino faulkner played a fine defensive game against the Bruins talented offense and were able to limit them to only one goal. For the last two weeks this line was tasked with preventing the teams with the most productive first lines in the division. They again rose to the challenge and even had some good offensive chances themselves.

The Devils Second line of Thomas Connors, Steve Randazzo, Keith Keogh, Patrick Lincoln, and Daniel Corona for the second straight overpowered their counterparts and provided the offensive punch the team needed. The line scored five goals with some pretty passes and good shots. Patrick Lincoln and Keith Keogh each had two goals, Thomas Connors had one goal and two assists, and Steve randazzo recorded an assist. Keep up the good work and passing!

The Devils Third line of Nicholas Cancel, Bobby Freed, Sage Saperstien, Sean Bottalico, and Anthony Barnao all played another great game. The teams seemed to be closely matched on third line with each team scoring goals. The lines only goal was scored by Nicholas Cancel. This line has shown improvement every game. All the players are starting to get involved in the play. Lets keep up the good work!

Noah played a really good game in goal. This is not the same goalie that started the season. With each game he gets more confidence and it shows in some of the saves that he is making. Keep practicing and making those saves for the team.

With this win we are one win away from winning the championship. Lets try and come to our next game with the intensity, hunger, and confidence that we have been playing with for the whole playoffs and see if we can win this thing. Good Luck next week and Lets GO Devils!!

Devils Advance To Championship Round

On Saturday March 31, 2008 in the third round of the playoffs the Devils played the Islanders. The Devils showed up on that day, like they have on all the other games of the playoffs ready to play, and to prove they are true contenders to win the championship. The game was a hard fought back and forth game with the Devils taking the lead twice 1-0 and 2-1 only to have the Islanders come back and take leads at 3-2 and 4-3. The Devils eventually tied up the game at 4-4 and then during their 2nd lines last shift went ahead 5-4. The first line then went out and played a solid defensive shift and helped the Devils defeat the undefeated Islanders 5-4. With this victory the Devils advanced to the Championship Round and now will await the results of the Islanders and bruins game next saturday to find out who their opponent will be.

This game like all the other playoff games was a team victory. Everyone on all three lines played and skated as hard as they could for every minute of every shift. The team was able to secure the victory because of two things. Our Teams Ofeensive prodution with two goals scored by Thomas Connors and Keith Keogh and one goal by Troy Mc Ardle. The second reason we won is because of teamwork and good defensive play. Everyone on all three lines knew what their roll was and which Islanders had too be stopped for us to win. Our first line had to stop some of the leagues best scorers and with the combine effort of Liam Connors, Justin Cancel Zackary Daddino, Santino Faulkner and Troy Mc Ardle they were able to hold their opponents to only one goal but more importantly did not let our opponent get many quality shots on our goal.

The Third line played a great game and even though we gave up two goals on this line that isn't a reflection on how well these boys played. Bobby Freed, Nicholas Cancel, Sage Saperstein, Anthony Barnao, and Sean Bottalico all played  and skated as hard as they could for the whole game. In paticular Bobby , Nicholas, and Sage all had strong games and each also had their own opportunity's to score.

Our Second Line as I stated previously produced most of our offense today. The combination of Thomas Connors and Keith Keough Offensive skills with Steve Randazzo, Daniel Corona, and Patrick Lincoln's solid defensive play make this the solid line that it is today. Hockey is a game all about matchups. Today when our first and third lines on paper appeared to have a difficult game ahead of them our second line appeared that although pretty even in skill with the other team would be our best bet for offensive production. And it was! Besides the goals mentioned above everyone on the line again played solid positional hockey passed when neccessary and again limited the other team to few quality shots on goal.

Our teams goaltender Noah played a good solid game in net. While his team limited the amount of quality scoring chances against him, they still were not able to prevent them all. Noah stopped some difficult shots throughout the game. He didn't seem to care what part of his body blocked them either. Sometime he used his leg, sometimes his glove , sometimes his stick or blocker, and when neccessary he even blocked a few with his mask. Great Job letes kepp up the good work.

Good Luck to everyone in the Championships. I think we have a really good shot at winning the championship. Lets keep practicing and playing hard and with the intensity that we've been playing and most of all have fun regardless of the outcome.

Devils Win and Advance To The Third Round Of The Playoffs

I don't know what can I say The team played a fantastic hard fought game against the Rangers today and were able to get a win in overtime and advance into the next round of the playoffs. Both teams fought hard all game. The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two periods but the Devils fought back and scored three goals on their next two shifts and took a 3-2 lead. The Rangers never quit though and with their net empty for the extra skater they scored a goal with .01 seconds left to tie the game at 3-3. In overtime the first line pressured their ooponents and almost scored the winning goal as time ran out on their shift. The second line picked up right where the first line finished and approximately two minutes into their shift scored the game winning goal. Talk about a little stress on the coaches heart.  Cogratulations to all the players on your win.  The Devils goals were scored by Thomas Connors (2) , Keith Keogh (1) , and Nicholas Cancel (1). Welcome back Troy from your broken knee. We all missed you! This was a complete team effort by all lines, offensively and devensivley as well as a strong game in goal from Noah. Everyone should be proud of the way their children played!

I usually don't mention players from other teams for their accomplishments but these two boys played for me last year, so I would like to congratulate Jack Delaney and Thomas Mullane for a great effort and each for scoring a goal.

Good Luck to All in the next round and Lets Go Devils!!

The Devils Start The Playoffs Off On a Winning Note!!!

On Sunday March 9th 2008 the Devils finally got to start the first round of this years Freshman Division Playoffs. I can honestly say that after watching the Boys play it was Well Worth The Wait!!! The Team jumped out to a 5-1 lead after 2 periods. But the Leafs fought back on one tough shift by the third line, where the Leafs high scoring third liner Justin Steinberg scored 4 goals on one shift to tie the score. That did not stop the Devils, The Devils first line and second line scored two more goals to regain the lead for good and win the game 7-5.

The Third line had the toughest task of the day. Stop the Leafs goal scoring third line while missing its own top scoring third liner Bobby Freed. The four remaining players on the line Sage Saperstein, Anthony Barnao, Sean Bottalico, and Nicholas Cancel gave a complete effort.  If you get rid of the one bad shift they limited the Leafs to one goal on third line. Nicholas Cancel was the work horse for the line and really made the Leafs work for everything they got. Great Job guys , Now lets see if we can get you all some help for the upcoming games!

The Second and First Lines played an outstanding game! They limited the Leafs to 4 shots on net while amassing appoximately 30 of their own. Their hard work, passing, defense and great positional hockey did not go unrewarded. Between the two lines they scored 7 goals. Liam Connors scored two goals, Justin Cancel scored one goal, Thomas Connors scored three goals, and Keith Keogh scored one goal. Additionally multiple players had assists on these goals. This means one thing, We were passing the puck. As a coach you can teach the players how to pass and try to tell them when to pass but it is up to them to resist the urge to try and stick handle around the other teams and pass the puck to their teammates! They did exactly that! Lets not forget our Defensive corps! Zachary Daddino, Santino Faulkner, Daniel Corona and Steve Randazzo, They played a fantastic game giving up very few opportunities to the Leafs while helping to pin their opponents deep in their zone for the whole game. I was spoken too by many parents on our team and others that watched the game and they all expressed how impressed they were with our teams passing and postitional play. Keep up the great work.

As for our Goalie Noah, He had a solid game in goal. Expescially on third line. With the exception of the one shift he was able to keep our team in front for the whole game. And when it looked like we were going to fall behind he kept us in there until the 1st and 2nd line were able to put the game away. Great job Noah and the rest of the team for a well deserved win. Good Luck next week and Lets Go Devils!!!

Parent and Player Survey
Thank You everyone for working hard both at practice and during all of our games. I have enjoyed watching and I have been told by other coaches, parents and league officials that they also have enjoyed watching each and everyone of you improve your skills as a Hockey Player, Skater and Team player during the season. Even though the season is not yet over I would like to know the opinions of the players and their families about what they think about certain questions. Please take the attached survey below. I enjoy seeing how the players and families feel about these topics, it helps me to make those painful coaching decisions for the awards dinner. Every season I have asked a few families and players their opinions, but with the web site I am able to ask everyone and also keep their answers anonymous. I will only be given the final results of the poll.

Playoff Schedule and Allstar Weekend

Although no definate schedule has been set, a tenative schedule for the playoffs and AllStar weekend has been set by the league. During the weekends of Feb 2 and Feb 9 the league will be conducting make up games in the other divisions  for their games that were cancelled previously due to rain. As long as there are no additional rainouts or postponments the following weekend of Feb 16 will probably be Allstar weekend. All children in the league play in the Allstar games. It is broken up by lines. The third line from the freshman division usually plays first on Saturday at 9:00 Am followed by the second line at 10:00 and then the first Line at 11:00. Its a fun day and if you are available you should really try to have your children attend.

If everything goes well the playoffs are set to start on the weekend of March 1st. Our first opponent should be the Leafs. As soon as I have a date and time I will inform everyone, but please plan on a Hockey game during that weekend.

In the meantime I will be scheduling a few practices and scrimmages with other teams to keep the boys fresh and ready to play. Enjoy the next few weeks and I will be in touch soon when I have a definate schedule.

Devils Lose Final Game Of The Regular Season

On Saturday January 26, 2008 the Devils played the Bruins in their final regular season game of the 2007-2008 Regular Season. The Devils played a hard fought game, but fell behind late in the game and eventually lost 4-2 to the Bruins.

The first line played hard against the Bruins first line. Liam Connors, Justin Cancel, Thomas Connors, Santino Faulkner, and Zachary Daddino all played solid games against the Bruins. This line during the season has shown that when they play together as a team they can play with any first line in the league. Unfortunately today they just couldn't get any of their shots past the Bruins goalie while the Bruins were able to capitalize on a few of their opportunities. As long as they continue to play as a team and pass the puck to the open players the goals will eventually happen.

The second line also played a solid game with everyone contributing and some trying new positions. Thomas Connors scored the lines only goal on an assist by Patrick Lincoln who when he was unable to get his stick on the puck kicked it up to the breaking Connors who then put the puck behind the Bruins goalie. Daniel Corona, Keith Keogh and Noah Wekselblatt all played well on their shifts, each playing multiple positions and skating both ways. Noah  was playing his first game ever out of goal and skated on second and third lines all game. Not bad for someone who has never practiced as a skater, but remember your still our goalie.

The third line of Robert Freed, Nicholas Cancel, Sage Saperstein, Sean Bottalico and Noah filling in on defense for a sick Anthony Barnao, played a strong game. Robert Freed scored the lines only goal, but the line had many offensive opportunities. Sage Saperstein, Nicholas Cancel, and Sean Bottalico each had opportunities to contribute to the team in the offensive and defensive zones. They all gave one of their best efforts of the season.

Steve Randazzo played his second game as a goalie this year. Steve provided the team with solid play in goal stopping many tough shots keeping the team in it to the very end. Unfortunately, even with all the hard work we were unable to secure a victory.

With the regular season now over the team will have a few weeks to practice and prepare for the playoffs. Hopefully during that time we will continue to come together as a team and advance to the final round of the playoffs and Win. Either way lets continue to have fun right to the end!

Devils Shutout Kings 9-0

On Saturday January 19th  the Devils played Kings for the second time this year and avenged their loss from earlier in the season. The Devils played had their best team effort of the year with five different players scoring goals and a total of seven players getting a goal or an assist. The team effort payed off and the team outscored their opponents 9-0 with Noah getting the first shutout of his BMRH career.

The third line was short two players with Bobby Freed and Anthony Barnao not available for the game. Nicholas Cancel, Sage Saperstein, and Sean Bottalico all had fine games with each of them having numerous chances to play the puck during their shifts. Nicholas scored the lines only goal and Sage Saperstein was able to get his first assist of his career. Daniel Corona double shifted the whole game and played defense for the line making sure to keep the Kings away from our goal.

The second line continued to improve in all areas of their game. They play a strong defensive game week in and week out while also providing a good portion of the teams offense. Thomas Connors scored three goals ( at least one was while double shifting on first line) Keith Keogh scored a goal and Steven Randazzo had his first goal of his BMRH career and also double shifted on first line at times during the game. The defense on the line was provided as a community efforts with Daniel Corona, Patrick Lincoln, Steve Randazzo, and Thomas Connors each taking their turns at the blue line for the Devils.

The first line was centered by Liam Connors with Justin Cancel on the Left and Thomas Connors and Steve Randazzo splitting time on the right. Justin Cancel had three goals, while Thomas Connors and Steve Randazzo each were able to get points while playing on this line. Liam Connors lead the line with six shots on net but unfortunately wasn't able to get a shot behind the Kings goalie but he did get four assists.

Noah Wekselblatt got his first shutout of his career while stopping 12 shots on net. It was really a pleasure to watch the team effort involved to keep the Kings out of our zone and limiting them to as little shots as we did. It was also great to see that when they did get a shot on Noah he was there to make the save and to preserve his shutout.

The team today played as that a team. Everyone skated both ways and when we did have the puck we played smart and looked for the pass. Passing the puck on second and first line lead to many of our offensive opportunities and kept the other team off balance. Keep up the good work and no matter what remember to have fun!!!!

Devils Comeback From Three Goals Down To Tie Leafs 4-4

On Sunday January 13th the Devils played a hard fought game against the Leafs. The devils found themselves trailing the Leafs right from the first shift. The Devils eventually fell behind 3-0 and then 4-1 before the climbed back into the game and scored three unanswered goals and tied the game at 4-4 with :55 seconds left in the game. Congratulations to the whole team for never quitting and fighting until the end.

The third line played against the leagues top scoring third line. The line was anchored by Nick Cancel and Bobby Freed who rotated back and forth on guarding the Leafs high scoring center. After giving up three goals on the first three shifts the line came together and shut the Leafs down for the remainder of the game. The remaining members of the line Sage Saperstein, Sean Bottalico, and Anthony Barnao played their best games of the season. All three skated hard on all of their shifts and had oppotunities to play and move the puck.

The second line of Steve Randazzo, Thomas Connors, Daniel Corona, Patrick Lincoln, and Keith Keogh dominated the Leafs second line for the entire game. outshooting the opponents 12-1. Unfortunately the Leafs goalie was able to stop all of their shots except the one that Thomas Connors put behind him during the third period comeback. This line gets better every week, and with the playoffs approaching can give the team a much better chance of making it all the way to the finals.

The first line being quarterbacked by Liam Connors accounted for the teams other three goals. Again just as the second line dominated their opponents this line also dominated the Leafs. The line played in the Leafs end almost the entire game, kept applying pressure to the Leafs goalie and in the end all the hard work paid off. Thomas Connors double shifting on first line scored one of his two goals on this line, Liam Connors unable to get one of his own six shots past the Leafs goalie obtained two assists, and Justin Cancel scored two goals including the tying goal with the Devils  net empty for an extra skater with 55 Seconds left to play. The Defensive pair of Zachery Daddino and Santino Faulkner had their usual strong game at the point and in their defensive zone. Remember without the defense keeping the puck in the offensive zone the fowards would not have had as many of the chances that they had to score.

Noah played another good game in goal. During this game when his team was down the Leafs had a few really good chances to score and Noah stopped them all keeping his team in the game and giving them the chance to comeback. I think everyone takes for granted how tough it is to become a goalie. For someone his age to have the mental toughness to want responsibility to hold the outcome of every game in his hands is very special.

Thank You all for such a great effort. If during a game you are having problems with the other team and you feel the referee's aren't calling penalties that should have been called, bring it to the coaches attention when you go to the bench. Sometimes we do not see the penalties so we cannot complain.

Devils Lose to Islanders In Their First Game After The Holiday Break.

The Devils played their first game since December 18,2007 on Saturday against the first place Islanders. The Devils seemed to be off their usual aggressive style game (Probably because of no practice for two weeks and some of the players being a little under the weather). The Islanders took advantage of this and outscored the Devils 7-3.

The Devils third line of Bobby Freed, Nicholas Cancel, Sean Botalico, Anthony Barnao, and Sage Saperstein for the first time all season were out played and out scored. Everyone is entitled to an off game and I'm sure with a little practice and some hard skating the line will regain its form and continue to improve and take the play to their opponents.

The second line played its usual solid game with Thomas Connors scoring two goals on assists from Daniel Corona. Steve Randazzo had a solid defensive game and is continually improving his defensive skills. Keith Keogh still recovering from a bad cold or the flu battled all game but needs some recuperation time to get back to the energetic skater that he has been.

The first line even though out scored by the Islanders three goals to one played a hard fought defensive style game. Santino Faulkner and Zachary Daddino provided the defense while Liam Connors, Justin Cancel, and Thomas Connors ,filling in for Troy Mc Ardle , provided the offense. The lines only goal was scored by Liam Connors after he picked up a rebound and deposited it over the Islanders goaltenders shoulder.

Our Goalie Noah  Wekselblatt played a solid game in goal. He continues to improve each week and during the weeks to come will be needed to push his team deep into the playoffs.

Nicholas Cancel, Thomas Connors, Bobby Freed, and Steve Randazzo all double shifted at times during the game. During the remaining part of the season the second line will have to have someone double shift every game to replace Troy Mc Ardle who is on the disabled list with a knee injury. Hopefully with a little luck and when he gets his cast off his leg Troy will be able to rehab quickly and be ready for the later rounds of the playoffs when we get there. Get Well Soon Troy!!

Devils Beat Rangers Move Into Tie For Second

On Saturday December 15th the Devils played the Rangers for their first game of the second half season. With the Rangers missing some of their key players, the devils took advantage and won the game 8- 1.

The Devils third line played played its usual solid game with Bobby Freed and Nicholas Cancel dominating the majority of the play. Unfortunately they were unable to get any pucks behind the Ranger goalie. Sage Saperstein, Sean Bottalico, and Anthony Barnao each continued to show improvement. All three had opportunities during the game playing the puck whenever they had the chance.

The second line also dominated again for the second straight week. Thomas Connors led the 2nd lines offense with two goals and an assist, Keith Keogh was able to net his second goal of the season. While the remaining three players Daniel Corona, Steve Randazzo, and Patrick Lincoln provided solid play in their positions exspecially at the points on defense.

The first line played well for the second straight game. The defensive pair of Zachary Daddino and Santino Faulkner have played two solid games keeping the opponents offense from getting many shots on their goalie. The two of them are dying to play offense and during the season will get some chances, but for us to compete with the other teams we need our best defenders back at the blue line! The offense also seems to be getting used to playing together. Liam Connors had his first Hat trick of the season, while Justin Cancel had two goals, and Troy Mc Ardle had three assists. The whole line seems to be looking to pass more often. This is helping us keep up with and out play the other teams top players. Keep up the good work.

Noah had a good game in goal. Although  the other team only had about 15 shots on goal, most were on breakaways. Noah stood up to the task only letting one goal get behind him and stopping the rest. Keep up the good work.

The whole team is starting to get the concept of staying in position and passing the puck. In the upcoming weeks as everyone learns how to shoot the puck off the rink more goals will come against the older goalies we are due to face.

Everyone have a good two weeks off and enjoy the Holidays!

Devils Defeat the Bruins 10 - 3

Yesterday the Devils played their best game of the season beating the Bruins 10 - 3. The Devils played all around great defensive and positional hockey on all three lines. The great defense opened up numerous offensive opportunities on all lines and enabled the Devils to dominate the game getting over 50 shots on net while only giving up only 17 shots from their opponents.

The third line again provided a big offensive lift to the team. Bobby Freed scored four goals while his partner on offense Nicholas Cancel scored one goal and had two assists. Sage Saperstein played solid defense and pinched in on offensive trying to get his own scoring chances.

The second line of Patrick Lincoln, Keith Keogh, Daniel Corona, Thomas Connors, and Steven Randazzo outright dominated the Bruins second line. Daniel Corona scored two goals and had one assist while Thomas Connors scored one goal and an assist. Keith Keogh had numerous scoring chances but just wasn't able to get the puck behind the Bruins goaltender. His hard work did not go unrewarded as he was able to get a point for an assist. Steven Randazzo playing his first game on second line played a solid defensive game staying in position and stopping the Bruins from breaking out of their zone.

The first line which has struggled during the first few games seemed to start to come into their own against the Bruins. Prior to the game the line consisting of Troy Mc Ardle, Liam Connors, Zachary Daddino, Justin Cancel , and Santino Faulkner discussed a plan on how to stop the Bruins highly talented first line that has scored thirteen goals in four games. The boys excecuted their plan throughout the game limiting the line to two goals while scoring two of their own! Liam Connors had a goal and a  beautiful assist when he passed the puck to a wide open Justin Cancel who then deposited the puck behind the Bruins goalie.

Our goalie Noah Wekselblatt played a solid game in net, making some good saves to get his second win of the season.

Enough cannot be said about playing defense. The players, parents, and coaches seem to forget that without those defensmen stopping the offensive rushes and clearing the puck the offense would not be able to score. So I would like to recognize two  defenseman, Zachary Daddino and Santino Faulkner for an outstanding almost flawless game.  Keep up the good work!!! I would also recognize Troy Mc Ardle for his good sportsmanship when after another player on the other team was injured. He approached the coaches on the bench and stated he thought he may have been the person who tripped and hurt the other player and would like to appologize, which he did following the game.

Devlis Lose to Kings

On Saturday December 1, 2007 the Devils played the Kings in the matinee game at 9:00 am at the BMRH Rink. In what ws a hard fought game the Devils lost  4 - 3 when the Kings scored a late third period goal. The game was a back and forth game with the Devils falling behind 2-0 in the first period but coming back with three unanswered goals taking the lead 3-2 early in the third period. The Kings then scored two goals on their first line last two shifts to win the game.

The Devils first line still trying to find  the right chemistry, started to play better but is having problems breaking out of their own end.During the second period Thomas Connors did feed Troy McArdle with a lead pass and Troy broke in alone on the Kings goalie and scored his second game of the year. All five players each played well at different times during the game, but unfortunately they haven't been able to put it all together as a team yet. Keep working hard and learn to rely on each other and the goals will come!

The second line played well the whole game giving the opponents few offensive opportunities  while generating many for themselves. Thomas Connors scored two goals, Keith Keogh and Daniel Corona worked hard and were able to each get an assist on one of Thomas'goals. Santino Faulkner and Robert Freed played strong defense always staying in position and backing each other up.

The third line also dominated its opponents. Robert Freed and Nicholas Cancel brought the play to the Kings the whole game while being supported by Sage Saperstein, Anthony Barnao, and Sean Bottalico. Unfortunately they were unable to get any pucks behind the Bruins goaltender. As each game passes the trio of Sage , Sean and Anthony are getting a little more involved in the play, and as the season gets further along this is going to make the third line a hard line to beat.

Finally Steven Randazzo started in goal filling for Noah. Keith played a solid game in goal. If it wasn't for a fluke goal, where during the face off when a puck deflected high up in the air and over the goalies head and into the net. Steven would have at least gained a tie. Thank You everyone for the hard waork. Don't worry about the losses, keep working hard and the wins will come as we get better.

Devils Lose to Rangers

On Sunday afternoon the Devils played for the second time this weekend, this time against the Rangers. The Devils were trying to make it two wins in a row , but unfortunately were overpowered by the Rangers and lost  9-2.

The Devils were missing a few players and two players had to double shift during the game. Nicholas Cancel and Robert Freed played on both second and third lines for the entire game.

Third line seemed to struggle against the Rangers third line, but things aren't always what they seem. The Rangers also short players had two second line players playing defense for their third line making difficult for the third line to generate much offense. However Robert " Bobby Freed" was able to beat the Rangers defense and put his first goal of his BMRH carreer behind the Rangers goalie. Sage Saperstein also contributed during the game, with some key defensive stops in front of his own net.

The second line also had a tough time during their shifts. Again with the rangers short players they had two players playing Defense from other lines. At least one 1st line players played defense for them. This was not realized until after the game, and probably if caught during the game the second line would have controlled play against their opponents second. The whole second line deserves credit for how hard they played against the Rangers second line. If not for the above coaching error the outcome of the game could have been quite different.

The first line had a tough time staying with the  speedy Rangers first line. Liam Connors worked tirelessly throughout the game. His hard work finally paid off in the third period when he scored his first game of the year.

Finally Keith Keogh made his debut in goal since Noah was unable to attend today's game. Keith played a good game stopping 20 of 28 shots on net.

It's a long season and there will be a few bumps in the road. Sometimes we will win and sometimes we will lose. Remember keep playing until the final whistle, and have fun.

Devils Get Their First Win Of The Season

On Saturday November 17, 2007 the Devils were able to get their first win of the season beating the Leafs 14- 5.

The Devils played a good two way game. The game through two periods was a close hard fought game, with both teams scoring multiple goals. The  Devils players in the third period, on all lines started to play better positional hockey. By playing in their positions they were able to limit the other teams scoring chances while managing to develop some impressive offensive chances scoring 6 goals in the third period.

The third line was again led by Daniel Corona who had 2 goals and an assist and Nicholas Cancel who was able to score the first goal of his BMRH Hockey carreer. Sage Saperstein and Anthony Barnao each gave their all on every shift and each had a few chances where they were able to get involved in the play.

The second line had another solid game both offensively and defensively. Thomas "T Bone Connors picked up where he left off last year and was able to get his first hat trick of the season along with an assist. Keith Keogh,Patrick Lincoln, and Santino Faulkner each had solid games and scored their first goals of their BMRH carreers.

Finally the first line played a solid two way game. Justin Cancel had the first hat trick and assist of his BMRH carreer. Liam Connors had a solid game winning the bulk of his face offs and getting his first three assists of the season. Lets not forget the 1st Line defense. They had a much better game than their first one! Both Troy Mc Ardle and Zachary Daddino not only stayed back by their blue lines like they were asked, but they were able to get some shots on net from the point when they had the opportunities. In the third period they each moved up to offense to give Liam and Justin a break. During their Offensive shifts Troy and Zachary each were able to get their first goals and assists of the season.

Noah Wekselblatt played his second game in goal. After a slow start he settled down to stop most of the remaining shots the other team sent his way. He finished the game stopping 20 of 25 shots on goal. The pretty good for someone playing only his second game in net.

Congratulations to everyone on the team. Hard work in practice and in the game is the reason for your first game of hopefully many to come! Remember keeping playing hard and shooting the puck at the net!

Devils lose to Islanders in a Hard fought game

On Sunday 11/11/2007 the Devils played the Islanders at the Bellmore Rink. Even though the Devils seemed to get the better of the play during the game they were unable to get any pucks behind the Islanders goaltender and lost 4-0.

The third line played an exicting game with Daniel Corona and Nicholas Cancel leading the way. Between the two of them they totalled approximately 9 or 10 shots on net. They both played excellent two way hockey and skated aggressively right down to the last whistle. The trio of Sage Saperstein, Anthony Barnao, and Sean Bottalico again showed continued improvement in their skating and even got into the mix when the puck came their direction.

The second line consisting of Thomas Connors, Keith Keogh, Bobby Freed on Offense and Santino Faulkner and Patrick Lincoln on Defense also dominated play against their opponents. The line had some excellent scoring opportunities but couldn't net a goal.

The First line consisting of Troy McArdle, Zak Daddino, Liam Connors, Justin Cancel and Steve Randazzo got off to a slow start against the faster extremely aggressive Islander skaters. But by the third period the 1st line also was starting to take the action to the Islanders.

This was the Devils first game of the year. As the season goes on the players will learn to pass and depend more on each other. This team seems to have all the talent needed to compete with any team in the division. I can't wait to later in the season to play the Islanders again to see how much better this team has become.

Finally I want to congatulate the three stars of the game,Keith Keogh, Santino Faulkner, and Noah Wekselblatt. The first two players showed that hustle and aggressive play pays off. Keith Keogh's aggressive play enabled the team to have outstanding scoring chances. Santino Faulkner's aggressive style of play time and again shut down the opponents offense. Finally our Goaltender Noah Wekselblatt completed his first ever game in goal and even though 4 goals got by him lets not forget the 21 other saves that he had made, some of which were exceptionally tough shots.

Thats all until next week. Remember its all about having Fun!

Devils First Game Postponed Due To Rain.

The Devils started their first game on Saturday but unfortunately they were only to play one shift on the third line before it rained. The third line played well on its only shift. The tandem of Keith Keogh and Nicholas cancel seemed to dominate the other teams line even though we were unable to get off any shots on goal. Sage Saperstein, Anthony Barnao, and Sean Bottalico made their Roller Hockey debuts and were able to show off all the skating skills that they learned in the last two weeks. Finally our Goalie Noah started his first game in net and made a fantastic leg save on the only shot he had to face.

The game will be rescheduled in the future. I will be in touch when I get the date and time. Don't forget practice on Thursday at 4:00 PM
