The 2009 season is now over for the Battlecats. They had their most positive and successful year since their inception. The team was comprised of an equal mix of veterans and rookies who complimented each other resulting in the Cats winning twice as many games as they ever did in past seasons. They ended the season with a 14 - 15 league record. A strong showing in the Ontario Elimination tournament ( 2 - 2 record) was another highlight of their year. With the rookies now having a year under their belt adding to the veteran experience, the future looks very bright for the Battlecats.
There are many people to thank for the success of the team. Firstly, a great big thanks goes to all the players! They came together and blended into a cohesive club that was supportive of each other in good and bad times. They worked at their game and took assignments in true rep fashion. They took part in fund raising, equipment and other club duties in good fashion. To the coaches, Blake Frost, Scott Stephenson, John Schwalm, Steve Kretz and Ron Lutz, Thank You. Your devotion, dedication and year long hard work really paid off. As always we can never say thanks enough to our loyal fans who come out to cheer us on all year long in good and bad weather. To Frank Juzenas and Robin Inscoe, sports reporters as well as the assignement photographers for the Brampton Guardian Thank you. Your coverage of the Battlecats is exceptional and really appreciated. To our sponsors( Which can be found on our sponsors page) a deeply appreciated thank you as well. Your generous contributions help the team cover it's ever growing expenses.
We will be keeping everyone informed of the league banquet and awards which should be in late October or early November. Believe it or not, preparations for the 2010 season have already begun. The winter Gym workouts/tryouts are being organized for early January 2010. Please stay tuned for information about the 2010 team and season.
