Parents Code of Conduct
I will not force my child to participate in sports. I will support his desire to play his chosen sport. I know that children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, and will do what I can to make it a fun and enjoyable experience.
I will encourage my child to play by the rules. I know that children learn best by example, so I will encourage fair play.
I will applaud a good effort in victory and in defeat. I will reinforce the positive points of the sport. I will never yell at my child during or after a match or practice. I will emphasize skill development and promote its benefits to my young athlete.
I will not embarrass by child by yelling at other wrestlers, coaches, or officials. I will not embarrass my child by banging on the mat in frustration. I will show a positive attitude toward the sport and all of its participants.
I will study the rules of wrestling, and support the officials both on and off the mat. This approach will help in the development and support of the sport and retain officials for future years.
I recognize the importance of volunteer coaches and others. They are very important to the development of my child and the sport. I will communicate with them in a respectful manner and out of the earshot of the wrestlers.
