Bays show better, but fall again to Mustangs in WAGS game 2; 4/27

The 94Bays had a chance for redemption, facing the side that ousted them from the State Cup just a week earlier in the MSC Mustangs, but fell again despite a much better showing on a muddy Deer Park field Sunday.

In a rare twilight match, the fourth of the day on an already over-used pitch, both teams put on a fine display of soccer in a very even game in spite of the final score. After showing little intensity the week before, Baltimore was up to the hard nosed challanges of the Mustangs on this day, and had their share of game control during times. MSC had their runs as well, particularly in the first half, but were only able to find the net on a long range bomb that just found its way under the crossbar at about the 28 minute mark. While it was a well struck ball, it came as the result of MSC being unable to penetrate the Bays solid defense with possession.

The second half bought more of the same end to end play, with Baltimore getting the better and creating chances but unable to find the final touch. MSC would double its lead off a long restart as a failed offside trap left 3 Mustangs in the box as the ball headed to the far post; it was finished off the bounce. The Bays again would not quit, and actually were the better side in the final 15 minutes, a testament to the team's attitude, but again came up short on finishing.

It was an enjoyable match for the spectators, with plaenty of action and aggressive play from both sides. Baltimore will get a chance to respond with 6 valuable points on the table next week as league play heats up in the month of May.
