BAVBB Makes National News
(San Jose, CA)-Bay Area Vintage Base Ball, Inc, a California non-profit vintage base ball league, was the benefactor of a nationwide audience last Sunday. ABC World News Tonight featured a story on the league at the end of it's broadcast. Both east coast and west coast viewers were able to take a peak at the fun and excitement happening on the west coast. BAVBB (as it is called) hosted it's inaugural season this year. "It has been a great success in it's first season", said Steve "Cappy" Gazay, captain of the San Jose Dukes and also the league founder. "We played most of the year with two clubs and just added a third. We expect to have between 4-6 club nines next year as word spreads about what fun we are having."
BAVBB plays by 1886 rules and customs, and uses reproduction gloves and equipment suitable for the time period. "The national exposure really helps to spread the word. Many on the east coast know of the hundreds of teams already formed there playing 1860-1880's base ball. Now it's time for the west coast to spread the news", says Gazay.
