Welcome to Bay Area Vintage Base Ball. The league is dedicated to preserving the style of play that was in effect between 1880-1890. We play the game the way it was before $50M contracts, shoe sponsorships, and 25 man rosters.

BAVBB uses 11-member clubs to play 12 games a season in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where true grit is displayed and sportsmanship is the holy grail. Each team is outfitted in reproduction uniforms from the 1880's, and the equipment consists of reproduction balls, gloves, bases etc that are made to look, feel, and perform as they did when the game was still home-grown. Can you handle a 45 ounce bat? Please see the rest of the site for information on playing rules and difference between baseball now and "base ball" then.

Western Regional Playoffs
Congratulations to the Santa Clara Stogies for winning the 2nd Annual California Cup.  The Stogies overpowered the Amador County Crushers by a score of 8 to 5 and will now compete in the Vintage Base Ball Federation World Series.  Details of the Stogies exploits will be posted at the bottom of this page as often as practical.  Go Stogies!   For more information on the World Series, see   www.vintagebbf.com .
