"Coaching,Teaching and Guiding Today's Youth
To Become Tomorrows Leaders Through Youth Sports"
A letter from our President:
The Buccaneers Athletic Club is a proud organization with a long history.
The first teams were organized in 1958 when the Club fielded an 11/12 year old basketball and football team.
The entire Club totaled around 20 people. Now, "50" years later, membership is over 1,100 boys and girls participating in football, lacrosse, basketball, wrestling, cheerleading and field hockey each year.
Youth sports are important to many people for many reasons.
They teach sportsmanship, camaraderie, and competition. They teach us the thrill of victory, how to win; and the agony of defeat; how to lose. Some of the youths dream of making it to the pros, while others just want to wear the uniform. There are lessons on effort and trying your best, along with the lessons to learn when you don't. There are coaches who become like fathers and mothers, teammates who become like sisters and brothers. Whatever the reason, it's here in youth sports.
The following statement is the mission of our organization:
The Buccaneers Athletic Club is committed to providing youth sport activities in the areas of football, basketball, cheerleading, wrestling, lacrosse, and field hockey to the Riviera Beach and surrounding communities. We do and will continue to support our local school systems by emphasizing the importance of academics, while at the same time serve as a feeder to our local high school programs.
The Buccaneers Athletic Club will strive to remain active in the area of community service and place importance on the social development of our youth.
The Buccaneers Athletic Club will operate as a non-profit organization and adhere to all local and federal regulations and requirements. We will encourage general membership, involvement in the decision-making processes, and new ideas.
Last, but not least, the Buccaneers will continue to put sportsmanship, fair play, and the best interest of each child, as our "Number One Goal."
Sincerely,
Captain Karl Philhower
