Concussion Recognition Training mandatory for all coaches

It is mandatory that all head coaches and assistants be certified for Concussion Recognition  training before baseball starts. There is a free on-line class that will train and certify you for this critical information.

Get prepared for the new season in less than 30 minutes

Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports is a free, online course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. It features interviews with leading experts, dynamic graphics and interactive exercises, and compelling storytelling to help you recognize a concussion and know how to respond if you think that your athlete might have a concussion. Once you complete the training and quiz, you can print out a certificate, making it easy to show your league or school you are ready for the season.

Changes to BABR in 2012

Changes in 2012:

1. All 13-15 year age levels will participate in player evaluations. The evaluations will be similar to those in previous years that were only for 13 year olds or new players. We intend to add a few more skills to the evening but hope to have it completed all on one night for each league. The evaluations will be used for drafting our City League teams as well as deciding how many teams we will field for the traveling teams. 14-15yr Eval night is April 3rd and the 13 year olds on April 5th.

2. We plan to have a "tournament" team chosen from each of our city leagues that will play some tournaments throughout the season. We still need to work out the logistics and have qualified coaches to run these teams.

3. All coaches must be certified in a recognition of concussion course before the teams are assembled. We recommend parents also take this free online course for their player's safety.

4. The city league game schedule has been changed to have two season halves. The first half, the BABR teams will play against BABR teams and OMGAA National League teams. When the first half is completed, the BABR teams will be separated into two groups according to their record.  The teams with the best Win/Loss record will play against teams in OMGAA's American League in the second half of the season and the others will continue to play against the National League teams.
