13 Avalanche Players Invited to 2007 State ODP Tryouts
CYSA District 2 just announced the player pool for next year's State ODP Team tryouts. The following MVLA Avalanche players were named to the 2007 ODP State Pool Tryouts: Tamara Achanzar, Chivon Crump, Abby Dahlkemper, Kelsey Foo, Saylor Gibbs, Geena Graumann, Kate Hultin, Sandra Ley, Hayley Moore, Erin Robinson, Rachel Wimmer, Katie Crum and Crystal Zeledon.

After numerous guest appearances and support in a number of tournaments, Kelsey Foo joins the MVLA Avalanche. Kelsey is joined by Chivon Crump, both from the retired Santa Clara Sporting 92 Team.

6 Avalanche players were picked to be part of the state ODP pool - 5 in the 93 state team and 1 in the 92 state team. Congratulations!

Avalanche @ Surf
The Avalanche executed well at the Girls Surf Cup in Del Mar coming home with a 2-1 record. Placed is the 'group of death' with Slammers FC, SoCal Blues, and Michigan Gators, the Avalanche came away with a 2-1 record, tying both Slammers and SoCal Blues in the game record. In the first game, Avalanche won 1-0 against a good Michigan Gators team, then lost 1-0 to SoCal State champs Slammers. They came back the next day winning against SoCal Blues.

Avalanche Wins 3rd Consecutive District 2 Cup
The MVLA Avalanche won thier 3rd straight District 2 Cup. The Avalanche won thier flight, scoring 6-0 against Juventus Toros, 2-0 against Peninsula Kickers and 1-0 vs the Sporting. The Burlingame Flames edged out the Sporting Metro by points to advance to the finals. The Avalance win 1-0 after double overtime. The final game was exciting and well played by both teams with the Flames putting up a strong defense throughout.

The MVLA Avalanche edges out the SF Mission Wildcats 3-nil to win the 2005 Golden Gate Cup. In the prelimenary rounds, the Avalanche scored 3-1 against Mill Valley Rockers and tied the Sproting Metro 0-0. They won 8-0 over the Golden Gate Girls to earn a spot in the Championship match.

Avalanche emerged as Champions after defeating RCU Lady Bocas 2-0.

10 Avalanche Players Selected for ODP
After 16 gruelling hours of soccer, 10 Avalanche players were picked to be part of the District 2 ODP pool. All players who went through the process have to be commended on thier endurance and will power, playing through with minimal water breaks. 6 of the Avalanche players are in the 93 ODP pool and 4 were selected for the 92 ODP pool.

Avalanche advance to the State Cup Championship
The MVLA Avalanche played a great semifinal game to advnace to the championship round of the Snickers State Cup. Playing against the wind in the first half, the Avalanche defense shut down the Los Gatos Metro attack, intercepting and stopping counterattacks, and reducing the Metro opportunities on goal. The Avalanche midfield and offense controlled the field, having multiple shots on goal, against the wind.

Early in the 2nd half, wind the wind on thier backs, the Avalanche scored on a ball passed from the midfield to the left side of the goal.
The second goal came on a free kick just outside the 18 yard line, went through the keeper's grasp. The Avalanche finished with a 3rd goal with 5 minutes left in regulation time.

Well done Avalanche!

Avalanche continue winning ways!
The Avalanche continue their unbeaten streak to 13 games over 3 tournaments. After winning thier first pool game against Central Marin Magic (4-0), the Avalanche tied both the Placer United and union City Palmieras. Moving on to consolation, the Avalanche faced Reno Gunners and came out on top 1-0. Click on the headline for pictures

Avalanche win Mustang Stampede !!
The Avalanche won thier second championship after a guelling double overtime game against a tough San Ramon Azurre.

The journey started with a shutout of Elk Grove 93, with the Avalanche driving 2 goals in, followed in the afternoon by another win against Mustang Freedom (2-0). The next day, the Avalanche clinched thier semifinal berth by beating a tough Walnut Creek team 1-0.

In the semifinals, the Avalanche faced a determined Santa Rosa United team, fresh from thier victory against the Mustang Earthquakes. The Avalanche defense managed to shut down the Santa Rosa offense while scoring 2 goals.

The championship game was a tough defensive game with both the MVLA Avalanche and the San Ramon Azzure battling for control of the midfield. Attacks and counterattcks were quickly nullified by both team's solid defense. After regulation time and double overtime, the teams faced off in penalty kicks - The Avalanche came out on top by 1 goal.

Congratulations Avalanche for winning the Mustang Stampede and great job by the defense and the keeper Damaris for shutting down all opponents!

Morgan Hill Cup Champions!
The Avalanche turned in a great performance this weekend, first battling it out of a tough flight to make it into the finals, then playing a great game of soccer in the championship. The Avalanche faced a big and fast team - DVSC - DVSC scored first, but the Avalanche played tough and came back with a goal to tie the game 1-1. The 2nd game was against the RCU Lady Bocas - a close game with many opportunities on both sides and the Avalanche coming out on top 2-1.

The last prelimenary game was against the SASC Roadrunners. The avalanche got thier groove on by this time and turned in a 4-0 victory.

The Avalanche went on to meet the WV Flash for the championship game. With only 1 sub, the heat finally took its toll on the Flash and Avalanche played beautifully, winning 3-0.

The Avalanche flexed thier soccer muscles today, holding thier first scrimmage after the summer break. Clad in bright orange, the Pleasanton Rage came in full force for what turned out to be a close match. The Avalanche scored first, but the Rage rallied to tie it 1-1.

Gearing up for the season
The Avalanche is gearing up for the fall season. It's going to be a busy but fun season. Practice start July 19 with the team camp scheduled July 26 to 29 9:00 am to 11:30 am. We will be in 2 tournaments in August, 1 each at the end of Septembe rand October followed by District 2 Cup and our State Cup run in early 2005. Stay tuned for more details.
