BCP/ASC/Big Sonnys Fends Off Clark County In Easton-Westide Rumble-USSSA NIT Finals At Eggleston
Colerain Township, Oh. – BCP  Associates/ASC/Big Sonny’s held off Clark County Merchants 11-10 in the second championship game to capture first place in the Easton-Westside Rumble-USSSA “Dâ€? National Invitational June 7th at Eggleston Park.

Clark County had forced an “ifâ€?game in the first finals, outscoring BCP 7-1 over the last three innings to pull away to an 11-5 victory.  The two clubs then battled to a 9-9 stalemate through five innings in the finals before BCP pushed across lone runs in the 6th and 7th to escape with an 11-10 win and the title.

A berth to the USSSA “Dâ€? World Tournament September 18-21 in Kissimmee, Fl. passed down to third place Schmoe’s/Western Hills Window/QCA.  BCP picked up $600 in travel expense money.

Tournament MVP Alan Miller (.722) and pitcher Rod Dale led BCP to the title, said manager Jack McCallister.

“Alan was the laser man all weekend.  He hit nothing but scuds,â€? said McCallister.  “And Rod did a great job pitching.  There weren’t too many scores against us.â€?

Dale held his club’s six opponents to only 31 runs overall, and a miserly ten runs as BCP swept through the winners’ bracket.

Other hitting leaders included Joe Davis (.611) and Ryan Disbennett (.600).  They were joined on the All-Tournament team by Chris Romine, Tim Nease and Rod Dale.

McCallister said that Davis, Disbennett and Neace anchored the defense for BCP.

“Joey (Davis) covers a lot of ground in left-centerfield,â€? said McCallister.  “He made an ESPN highlight catch on ball ball when he hit the pole and held on.  Ryan (Disbennet) also played a nasty outfield, and Timmy (Nease) made a lot of really good stops at 3rd base.â€?

BCP’s defense was virtually impregnable as they mowed down the Merchants 17-3, Nasty Boys 7-2, Team Emanon 12-3 and Clark County 13-2 in the winners’ bracket.

A seven-run 1st followed by a four-run 2nd helped carry BCP past the Merchants in five.  Joey Davis and Justin Wagner each contributed a two-run double in the 1st.  Wagner’s two-run single capped off the 2nd.  Ryan Disbennett pounded out four hits, and Davis added three for the winners.

Next BCP used a four run 5th to break open a 2-1 contest with Nasty Boys.  Chey Romine’s sac fly capped off the inning.  Alan Miller, Tim Nease and Chad Adams combined for six hits.

BCP rolled past Team Emanon 12-3 in game three, scoring four in the 1st, three in the 2nd and four in the 4th to take a commanding 11-1 lead.  Chad Adams’ rbi single put his club ahead to stay at 2-1 in the 1st.  Adams added a two-run double to cap off the 3rd.  Matt Brown delivered a big two-run single in the 4th.

Adams and Alan Miller shared six hits to pace the offense.

BCP then polished off Clark County Merchants handily by a 13-2 score in the winners’ bracket finals.  After nursing a 2-1 lead over the first two innings, BCP plated three in the 3rd, two in the 5th, three in the 6th and three in the 7th to pull away from the Merchants.  Ryan Disbennett’s two-run double highlighted the 3rd, Rod Dale’s two-run single was the big blow in the 5th, and pinch-hitter Jeremy Webb came through with a two-run double to close out the scoring for BCP in the 7th.

Ryan Disbennett and Alan Miller went 3-for-4 to fuel the offense.

Clark County avenged their loss in the first finals, ambushing BCP 11-5 to force an “ifâ€? game.  Then in the second finals, they battled BCP to a 9-9 tie through five before BCP pushed across the go-ahead run on Tom Beck’s rbi single, then added an insurance run on a Joey Davis sac fly.   Clark County mustered a final tally in the bottom of the 6th to make the final 11-10.

Rod Dale collected three hits, and Davis, Ryan Disbennett and Jarod Mucciardi pitched in with two apiece for the champions.

McCallister said his team “finally came together after personnel struggles earlier in the season.

“We’ve had a few guys hurt and a few who have quit, so we picked up a couple different players and we’re just now starting to come together, said McCallister.
