Ashburn Wolves: Welcome
|
The Ashburn Wolves have an immediate opening for two or three dynamic players including a goalkeeper. Contact Head Coach Rick Bender rickbender44@gmail.com or 703-860-8785 for additional information. The Team & Culture: The Ashburn Wolves are an elite girls travel soccer team that is committed to developing the players’ technical skills and tactical knowledge. The Wolves represent the Ashburn Soccer Club but are comprised of girls from western Fairfax County, eastern Loudoun County, and Winchester, Virginia. The team is led by head coach Rick Bender who played varsity soccer at the University of Delaware and has over 20 years of experience as a head soccer coach. He is focused on preparing each player for success at the club, high school, and college levels. He has high expectations for the girls and constantly challenges them to play their best in both practices and games. He has no daughters on the team (his two daughters are now young adults). Our players are well rounded and most play basketball or other sports throughout the year. Unlike some coaches, Coach Rick encourages this because he believes that not only does that help maintain the girls’ conditioning but it also enhances their knowledge of offensive and defensive concepts and tactics common to many team sports. Despite how far the team has come in such a short period of time, the coaches, players, and parents remain focused on preparing the girls to compete now and in the future at the highest level possible.
