The Arsenal Defeat The FishHawk Team With Style 4 Goals To One!
The Arsenal were well prepared to open the season against the up and coming team from Fish Hawk. Both teams started well with each scoring a goal halfway through the first half. Sammy Sullivan stood out in the first half scoring the teams first goal and also kicking a perfectly placed corner kick in the goalie box which Matt Watson put into the back of the net to make the score 2-1 and give the Gunners from Land O Lakes the lead. Shane Matthews was able to shred the FishHawk defense. Once in the box and in shooting range, Shane was taken down inside the opponents goal box and drew the penalty kick. Matt Watson took the PK and drilled a perfect shot into the corner of the net to make it a 3 to 1 lead. RJ Pittman and Jake Kelly were awesome in the net and made save after save as the FishHawk tried desperately to score. Their efforts paid off with a sure scoring chance as Heinrich Mennenger accidently got his arm high while blocking a scoring chance. As it turned out, it was a great play as the FishHawk penalty shooter missed his mark wide and sent his free shot off the left post. Dillon Oergel would excite the crowd by performing an incredible header to drive a lofted ball from Eryk Lipiczsky into the net of the visiting FishHawk. The Gunners bunkered down in the final minutes as the FishHawk players tried to score but they could not break through as Cody Cummings led the defense with 5 clearing kicks. Congratulation to the Arsenal as they win their first game in style by a score of 4 to 1.
