Armstrong JO’s

The goal of Armstrong Junior Olympic Volleyball Club is to offer an affordable opportunity for girls wanting to play volleyball during the off-season.  The season will last from December to mid-March, and practices will be at Armstrong High School on the dates listed below. We will do our best to provide a playing opportunity for all girls interested.

Team Selection will be Monday, December 5th from 7-9pm, with a brief parent meeting following.

Practices (Mon/Wed from 7-9:30pm):

December--7, 12, 14, 19 (no practice over winter break), January-- 9, 11, 18, 23, 25

February-- 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 22, 27, 29

March-- 5, 7

Tournaments:

The team will compete in local tournaments, approximately two each month.

Cost:

The cost of Armstrong JO’s is $800 (split into three monthly payments of $200, with $200 due at signing).  Cost includes coaches (two/team), uniforms, tournament entry fees, North Country Region membership, and practice T-shirts.  This is one of the least expensive JO Clubs available.

Correction on the Faribault Tournament

The team will be getting a bus to the Fairibault Tournament.  It will leave AHS at 7:15am and will return concluding the tournament.  I would guess around 5pm.  All players should ride the bus.  We do need to bring one line judge/team.  If anyone plans on coming and is willing to do so, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please let Ayesha know for Varsity and Paul know for B-Squad.

Match versus Park Center to be televised (Oct 13)

The Park Center match will air live on Channel 12. It will also replay Friday (8/14) at 8:30 & 11:00 p.m. and Saturday (8/15) at 11:30 a.m.

Faribault Tournament - Varsity and B Squad (Oct 15)

Attached is the schedule for this Saturday's tournament at Faribault HS. Varsity and B Squad only. Teams should be there by 8:30. There is no bus, so please arrange car pools as needed. Thank you.

Minnetonka Tournament - 9A and 9B (Oct 15)

Attached is the schedule and info for this weekends 9th grade tournament at Minnetonka HS.  There is no bus, so please arrange car pools as needed. Thank you.

Coon Rapids Tournament (Oct 1)

Cub Fund Raiser (Oct 29 and Dec 20)

The final fundraiser of the 2011 volleyball season - team grocery bagging at Cub Foods.  Each player in the program is expected to sign up for one five hour shift (there are three to choose from).  We are looking for 14 to sign up for each shift. Sign up details will follow soon, but please keep one of these dates/locations in mind:

Saturday, October 29th 10AM-3PM and 3PM-8PM  (2 shifts)
This is the Crystal Cub on 100 & 36th.

Tuesday, December 20th 4PM-9PM
This is the Plymouth Cub on Nathan Lane

Both locations require the girls wear a volleyball jersey (so they match and look like a team).

Aug 23 Parent Meeting at 7:30

A Parent meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23rd in the upper auditorium at 7:30PM (please note time change from 7PM listed on the previous calendar).  Players are not required to attend the meeting.

Aug 23 Varsity Scrimage at Roseville HS

A varsity scrimmage at Roseville High School was recently added to the schedule.  The scrimage starts at 3:30PM.

Conncession

Every year parents have been asked to contribute to the concessions by donating pop, water, and Gatorade.  Players on each of following teams are expected to provide a case (24 bottles, 20 oz size) of the following beverages:

9th grade teams - Dasani or Aquafina water

Sophomore and JV teams - Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, or Diet Sprite

  Varsity team - Gatorade

Players may bring the beverages to practice and help Paige bring them to the storage room.

Fund Raising

Players were given car wish tickets to sell and forms for selling cookie dough.

Car wash is scheduled for Saturday, Aug 27, from 10AM to 2PM at Domino's in Plymouth.
