Description:

Western Winners is a unique experience provided for top girls lacrosse players entering grades 9 thru 12.  Held in Northern California, Western Winners is a mix between a camp and a tournament.  The Showcase provides players with the opportunity to be evaluated by college coaches while also getting to work closely with them in drills and a practice session.  We want the players to be able to work with the college coaches in order to find out what style of coaching they might enjoy at the collegiate level.  At the same time, it gives the college coaches an idea of potential recruits’ personalities, work ethic, and coachability.  At Invitational Showcase Camps, players do not get to work with college coaches due to NCAA rules prohibiting activities that simulate a “tryout” for a college team.  While we encourage advanced players to register for Western Winners, we do not turn anyone away, which makes it possible for us to cater to both coaches and prospects for Division III through Division I institutions.

Confirmed Coaches for 2013: Albany, Amherst, Brown, Cal, Chapman, Claremont, Colorado, Colorado Mesa, Cornell, Davidson, Denver, Fort Lewis, Fresno State, Marquette, Northwestern, Oregon, Redlands, San Diego State, Sierra Nevada, St. Mary's, Stanford, USC, Whittier. *More coaches still confirming.

Format

6/16- The first session will begin at 5:00 pm

6/19- The last session will end at 12:00 pm

Session 1- Drill Stations in which players are taught and evaluated by the coaches prior to a draft session in which the coaches choose players they liked throughout the skills sessions AND players who may have contacted them prior to camp.
Session 2 - Morning session consists of a college style practice run by the coaches for their newly drafted teams
Session 3 thru 7- Games between the teams
*College coaches watch other games when their own teams are not playing, so that they can evaluate other players at the camp.
Session 8 - All Star Game and King of the Hill 3v3 tourney

This is an ideal setting for players striving to play at the next level as they are given access to the highest level of coaching and the cap on registrations at 200 players. In addition to the instruction on the field, the coaches will serve as chaperones and walk the girls to and from the hotel each day as well as be a sounding board for any questions the girls might have. The intimate setting with coaches at this level is a very rare opportunity and we are proud that we are able to offer it to players from all over the country.
