Alpine American Little League: 2012 Season Divisions

MAJORS
Majors (ages 10-12)

The Majors Division is the most competitive division where we strive to impart as much baseball knowledge as possible to each player, while instilling a desire to win and improve. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of selecting and balancing the teams and the team managers will choose the teams in a draft. It is MANDATORY that every available player attends a tryout session. Only those players will be eligible for the selection/draft process. All other players will be required to submit a waiver to the board and must be approved to be eligible to play. The season will conclude with a tournament in which all teams will participate. In addition, players 10 years old will be eligible for the 9/10 and 10/11 All-Star teams, 11 year olds will be eligible for the 10/11 and 11/12 year old All-Star teams and 12 year olds will be eligible for the 11/12 year old All-Star team.


MINOR A
Minor A (ages 9-11)

The Minor A Division is a more competitive division than Minor B Division with continued emphasis on training and development of the players. Players will pitch and will receive instruction in both infield and outfield positions. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of selecting and balancing the teams and the team managers will choose the teams in a draft. It is MANDATORY that every available player attends a tryout session. Only those players will be eligible for the selection/draft process. All other players will be required to submit a waiver to the board and must be approved to be eligible to play. The season will conclude with a tournament in which all teams will participate. Players 9 year olds will be eligible for the 9/10 All-Star team, 10 year olds will be eligible for the 9/10 or 10/11 year old All-Star teams and 11 year olds will be eligible for the 10/11 and 11/12 year old All-Star teams based upon a nomination process.


MINOR B
Minor B (ages 8-10)

The Minor B Division is an instructional, non-competitive division dedicated to teaching fundamentals and continuing the development of baseball skills. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of selecting and balancing the teams. The league will utilize player pitching. The integration of kid pitching is for the purpose of giving the batting team an opportunity to see live pitching. In turn, it gives the fielding team an opportunity to develop baseball knowledge of throwing from the mound. All players will receive instruction at both infield and outfield positions. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of determining potential for playing the Minor B Division. Minor B Division rosters will be established through the draft process developed by the league.


CAPS
CAPS (ages 7-9)

The CAPS Division is an instructional, non-competitive division dedicated to teaching fundamentals and continuing the development of baseball skills. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of selecting and balancing the teams. The league will utilize a combination of coach pitch and player pitching. The integration of kid pitching is for the purpose of giving the batting team an opportunity to see live pitching. In turn, it gives the fielding team an opportunity to develop baseball knowledge of throwing from the mound. All players will receive instruction at both infield and outfield positions. Players will participate in a tryout for the purpose of determining potential for playing the CAPS Division. CAPS Division rosters will be established through the draft process developed by the league.


CAPS FARM
CAPS Farm (ages 6-7)

(5 year olds will be allowed in Division if they played the previous year in AALL Tee-Ball Division)

The CAPS Farm Division is an instructional, non-competitive league dedicated to teaching fundamentals and continuing the development of baseball skills. Managers and coaches will be pitch for the purpose of giving each player quality, consistent at-bats in order to develop a fundamentally sound swing. Managers and coaches will also help players in the field remain active as more hit balls will be in play. The CAPS Farm Division does not utilize tryouts as team rosters will be developed by managers and the league.


TEE BALL
Tee-Ball (ages 4-5)

The Tee-Ball Division is an instructional, non-competitive league dedicated to teaching the basic fundamentals of baseball. Scorekeeping is not permitted. The Tee-Ball division does not utilize tryouts, as managers and the league will develop team rosters. Pitching is not permitted as all of the players hit off of a tee. All players at the field are used in the field and each team hits the entire line-up each inning.
