The Spartan Junior Basketball program provides opportunities for players to learn and participate in the game of basketball at two levels.  These levels include a recreational program and a travel team program.

RECREATIONAL PROGRAM:  This program has open enrollment for players of all skill levels for grades 3 through 8.  The focus is to provide a fun environment for players to learn the game of basketball.  Players are divided by grade segments and meet once on Saturdays for both practice and scrimmage.  The recreation program typically begins around the end of November or early December and continues through mid-February.

TRAVEL TEAM PROGRAM:  The travel teams allow players in grades 5 through 8 to participate in a competitive basketball environment against other teams in the Capital District.  The program is designed to teach players fundamentals, offensive and defensive plays, and game strategy.  The program is excellent preparation for players who intend to play interscholastic basketball.  The travel team program typically begins with tryouts in mid-October and continues through mid-February.  Home and away games are generally played on weekends with away locations normally limited to the Capital District area.  Players must also commit to attending 1 to 2 practices during weeknights.  Players participating in the travel team program are also required to participate regularly in the recreation program.
