2008 All City Softball Board Members
The All City Softball 2007/2008 Board of Directors
All City Softball is looking for volunteers, it is our focus to continue to build All City Softball. Our league produces strong All Star teams, and this past All Star Season, two of our teams had the opportunity to play in the Western Regional tournaments, held in Montana for the Senior league, and Arizona for the Junior league team. Both teams placed well and were contenders for a berth in the Little League World Series Tournaments. All of us feel that 2008 could be our FIRST year to send a team on to the World Series.
All City Softball Board also wishes to increase the number of board members serving in our league. We would like to invite volunteers who have a passion for developing our softball league, and the time to assist in the planning, organizing and managment of the All City Softball League to submit your name and area of interest as soon as possible. Even though play does not begin until April 2008, now is the time to plan and organize. Volunteers can help in many ways, and any amount of time that can be given will be appreciated and respected. The All City Softball board of directors is also interested in your thoughts, concerns and ideas on ways to improve our league.
Please respond with your interest and ideas.
The following OFFICERS WERE ELECTED:
Sherry Scharmann, President
Jerry Johansen, Vice President / Field Maintenance
Sabrina Cook, Vice President / Player Agent
Michelle Stephenson, Vice President / Player Agent
Lisa Lavoie, Secretary
Andrew Gonzales, Information Officer
Jeff Cook, Coaching Coordinator
Karen Gaston, Ways & Means
Joe stephenson, Equipment
Ryan Herrick
As the newly elected president, it is my goal to continue to develop leaders from within our league, and to "pass the torch" to the future leaders of All City Softball. It is with great interest and passion that I continue to assist All City Softball in growing into the premier softball league of this area. I am approachable and willing to hear your thoughts. Please email me, or call me in the evenings to discuss the future of All City Softball.
Sincerely,
Sherry Scharmann

***2007*** DEAR ALL CITY SOFTBALL PARENT
All City Softball is honored to be the only local league to offer fast pitch softball to girls from the ages of 5 to 18 and we are the ONLY chartered league in our community authorized to send the nearly 100 girls, ages 10 to 18 to the progressive All Star tournament in July.
In 2006, All City Softball achieved what no other league has done in Manteca. We captured State Titles in the 10/11 year old team as well as the 13/14 year old team. Our 13/14 year old team (Junior's) traveled to Arizona to participate in the Western Region All Star Tournament. Unlike other leagues in which many, many teams may qualify just by participation, in the Little League All Star Tournament, teams are eliminated at the District, Section, Division, & Regional level in order to advance to a World Series. This narrows down the competition at each level. To qualify for a Regional, you have to be the top team in your state at your age group. (California is the only state that sends two teams, one from Northern California, one from Southern California, All City Softball represented Northern California). All City Softball was also a contender at the 15/16 year old State Tournament, finishing in 2nd place, one win away from advancing to the Regional. Our 9/10 year old team & 11/12 year old team advanced to the Section Tournaments and also competed well.
After our successful post season, we enter our seventh year, anticipating nearly 500 participants filling 35+ teams. We are proud of the fact that the league has grown every year. We strive to make improvements each year in order to provide a quality program. This is where YOU, the parent, are VALUABLE asset.
We must continue to evaluate each season, looking for ways to improve. Our goals consist of excellence for our Coaches, Playing Fields, Equipment, and Umpires. We've made great strides each year to improve in these areas and want to continue to evaluate every area to improve.
Some changes for 2007:
-GAMES LOCATIONS:
ALL league games will be played at Northgate Complex & Morenzone Field. (Some
league games MAY be played in Ripon)
-SCHEDULING:
*Week night games will be scheduled in order to accommodate Umpires.
*Saturday games will be scheduled in order to allow some weekend games and some
off, for travel ball players to play in tournaments. (We plan to play every
other Saturday, or every two)
-T-BALL:
We plan to solicit T-Ball players in February & March, in order to build the
program.
-MANAGERS & COACHES:
Must be approved by the league President & must comply the new requirements.
(Training, Mandatory meetings, etc.).
*Managers and/or Coaches that were disruptive, will not be returning*
-PROFESSIONAL PITCHING COACH:
Provide by the league for minor division players.
-ADDITIONAL COMMITTEES/VOLUNTEERS:
We have added several hardworking board members this year as well as implementing
new committees.
To operate the league requires planning for fields, equipment, schedule, uniforms, fundraising, players, tryouts drafts, etc.. As we continue to grow, we must also grow our volunteers. The Board of Directors has already been working for months to prepare a place for your daughter to play softball and you can be a valuable asset to the league as well. There are many opportunities for you to help make YOUR All City Softball league the best it can be!
If you can't give of your time, you can make a tax deductible donation to the league. You may specify how it is to be used, such as coach or umpiring training, equipment, fields, etc.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ALL CITY SOFTBALL:
-Board of Directors (vote is initiated at closing ceremonies for the following
year. Anyone else interested in an open position may request to be appointed to a
non-voting position)
-COMMITTEE MEMBER:
*Ways & Means (Sponsorships/Fundraising/Snack Bar)
*Equipment
