Alaska Quakes Baseball Club Safety Plan
The AQBC Safety Plan, by reference, includes any Policies, the Code of Conduct and the Bylaws of the Club. These documents taken together form the AQBC safety plan. The Board of Directors has adopted the Safety Plan. All Managers, Coaches, Parents, Players and Volunteers are bound by the guidelines set forth in these documents.

Safety Rules
  • The Executive Committee must approve Managers and Coaches; this includes a review of criminal background checks, before engaging in any coaching activity.

  • Club members must follow all travel rules.

  • Club members must be familiar with and abide by the Code of Conduct.
  • Responsibility for Safety resides with all Club members.

  • Observe all tournament rules and guidelines.

  • Keep loose equipment off the field of play.

  • Players should always be alert and watching the batter on each pitch.

  • Use only properly functioning equipment with good fit.

  • Batters must always wear NCOSE approved batting helmets.

  • Catcher must wear catcher’s helmet, mask, shin guards and protective cup with athletic supporter at all times for all practices and games.

  • At no time should “horse play” be permitted on the playing field.

  • Players who wear glasses should be encouraged to wear “safety glasses”.

  • Players should not wear any metallic items during games and practices.

  • Coaches should make arrangements to have a cellular phone available when your game or practice is at a facility that does not have any public phones.

  • Managers keep Medical Release Forms with you at all games and practices.

  • Don’t leave an unattended player at a practice or game.


In the Event of an Injury
  • Reassure and aid players who are injured.

  • Provide, or assist in obtaining, medical attention for those who require it.

  • Carry your first-aid kit to all games and practices.

  • Assist those who require medical attention - when administering aid, remember to; LOOK for signs of injury, LISTEN to the injured describe what happened and what hurts.

  • Don’t administer any medications.

  • Don’t provide any food or beverages (other than water).

  • Don’t hesitate in giving aid when needed.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you’re not sure of the proper procedures.

  • Don’t transport injured individuals except in extreme emergencies.


Reporting Injuries
The following constitute the injury reporting procedures of the AQBC.
  • What to report - An incident that causes any player, manager, coach, or volunteer to receive medical treatment and/or first aid.

  • When to report - All incidents described above should be reported when the incident will result in the player missing a game or practice or necessity to file an insurance claim.

  • How to report - reporting incidents can come in a variety of forms. Most typically, they are telephone conversations. In the event of an insurance claim use the Injury report form found on the website in the handouts folder.
