Thanks for visiting our site and please read the following as it is a brief history of our club and gives you an understanding of what the Quakes is all about.

You have reached the home of the Alaska Quakes Baseball Club, Inc. Our club strives to provide competitive baseball opportunities for Anchorage's youth that are not available within Alaska. Each year in April and again in August our club travels to compete in baseball tournaments throughout the country. Brian Crawford founded the Alaska Quakes with just one team from Anchorage in 2000. Quakes teams will grow to 8 teams during the 2005-2006 season with players from Anchorage, Eagle River, Chugiak, Palmer, Wasilla, Girdwood and even Homer! On Sunday October 16, 2005 the Executive Board unanamously voted to expand to 7 teams. One at the 11U level and two at each of the following levels 12U, 13U and 14U age groups. One team National and one team American.  We have expanded to create more opportunity for Alaska's youth to play competitive baseball. This expansion will allow for more games throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Baseball is surprisingly popular in Alaska. Summer youth baseball and softball offer quite robust programs. Perhaps it's the sun or lack of it? Alaska winters see less than six hours of daylight. By the time summer comes, locals are itching to get outside and enjoy over 19 hours of sun! Daylight baseball can be played until midnight! Also, at the center of baseball in Alaska are fine summer collegiate league teams that represent the finest in college baseball. The Anchorage Glacier Pilots www.glacierpilots.com, the Anchorage Bucs www.anchoragebucs.com, The Mat-Su Miners www.matsuminers.org, and Kenai Peninsula Oilers www.oilersbaseball.com each churn out many future major leaguers year after year. Over 250 major league players once played before Alaska fans. The likes of Mark McGuire, Randy Johnson, Tom Seaver and Dave Winfield have all passed through Alaska. For more information on Alaska baseball check out the book Diamonds in the Rough by Lew Freedman www.epicenterpress.com.

The Alaska Quakes Baseball Club strives not only to provide a competitive baseball opportunity; we also strive to provide a positive example for our players and memorable experiences to last a lifetime. In order to meet our goals our club is always in need of financial support. The club is now recognized as a non-profit charity by the IRS under rule 501(c)(3) and therefore can receive tax-exempt charitable donations. If you have a moment, follow the Sponsors link on the left to see the fine support the team has already generated. Also please check out our individual team sites by using the Quakes Teams link on the left. Should you be willing or able to provide financial support to our club you may do so online by following the Donations link on the left or if you are interested in purchasing advertising on our site please contact us by email at alaskaquakes@gci.net.
