Matt grew up in Syosset on Long Island, New York.  He started playing lacrosse at a young age.  He graduated from Chaminade High School in 1977, where he was a four-year starter on the varsity lacrosse team and a first-team all-league midfielder.

Matt was recruited and played lacrosse at the University of Virginia

He attended St. Paul's School in Baltimore, Maryland where he started playing lacrosse in 3rd grade.  John played 3 sports throughout in high school: varsity football, basketball and lacrosse.  He played lacrosse during his freshman year at Roanoke College in Virginia.  Jon has been an assistant coach with Mountain Pointe High School for 5 years until he decided to coach the Lightning Middle School team full time this year.
