The tournament started with the Storm winning their pool games against two of the top 12 U teams in the State that were playing up to 14U in the Hotshots and Desert Thunder with an added win over the  Desert Blaze.  In bracket play, Storm defeated Heat Wave 8 to 0 and then played a very strong hitting and much improved Sugar and Spikes team in the semi-finals 4 to 2.  In the championship game, Storm again met  a very well coached and classy Desert Thunder 93 team that had shut out all their opponents in the previous 3 bracket games that day.  Storm jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and ended up winning  8 to 1 to secure their first ASA Tournament victory.

The 92 Storm had a big second inning and AZ Storm was unable to battle back and come up short by a score  7 to 1 to finish 3rd in their first TCS tournament of the year.

AZ Storm Wins 16U TCS Superbowl Championship National Qualifier
1st Place
The AZ Storm played up to the 16U level for the first tournament after a month long holiday break and started out the pool games on Saturday with a solid defensive effort and quality starts from all three pitchers but fell short in the close games with a lack of timely hits and  a little rust showing at the plate.  On Sunday, when it mattered most, the bats came alive, the defense was again solid and an outstanding pitching effort resulted in a 2 to 1 win against the AZ Xtreme in the championship game to secure the 16U TCS Tournament.   The tournament win was truly a team effort with everyone contributing to the win on both offense and defense.

Jan 21 ASA Kickoff Classic
3rd Place
The AZ Storm continued their winning streak by winning their first five games of the 16U ASA  JO Kickoff Classic.  The Storm started off by beating Desert Heat 7-4 followed by a win over the Vipers 8-2 and a narrow and costly victory over the  Tornados 5-3.  Down by one with the bases loaded, Melissa was hit by a pitch walking in the tieing run as she went in pain to first base.  With no substitutes left to run, Melissa stayed in and Nora came through with a double and the game winning RBIs .  Unfortunately Melissa, while checking her swing, had  been hit by an inside  screw ball that snapped her right small forearm bone  putting her out for the next 8 weeks.  The Storm regained their composure and beat the Outlaws 6-4 in the next game followed by a game against the Scottsdale Storm.  With  the AZ Storm down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Destinee hit a line drive shot into the gap with two runners on for a home run and a wild 5-4 win to gain a  perfect 5 and 0 record on Saturday and a berth to the semi-finals on Sunday.  On Sunday, in spite of a 16 strike out performance by Nora against a very strong hitting 91 Hotshots team,  the Storm was unable to generate any offense and lost to the eventual champions 2-0 to finish 3rd in the tournament behind the 91 Hotshots and Team AZ.
