About Us |
|
AZ Sky Volleyball Club is your club
WE HAVE OUR OWN 4 COURT GYM! (Click for MAP)
Our practice "Home" is Kingdom Courts, located at the NW corner of 19th Ave. and Cholla (Castle Sports Complex)
AZ Sky is a member of USA Volleyball and all coaches are IMPACT certified and have either coached/competed at the college, club or high school level.
We strive to provide a competitive, fun and learning environment for athletes who want to prepare for Junior High, High School or College Volleyball. We believe in teamwork, positive attitude, leadership, athletic abilities and continuous improvements. As such, each athlete must earn her/his position on a team.
AZ Sky Girls VBC offers Club, Championship, and Open teams from ages 18 and under.
AZ Sky Girls Developmental Program offers skills training for athletes mainly 10 years of age and younger. (The developmental program will consist of six months of lessons and potentially two non-USVA tournaments)
Club Philosophy
AZ Sky is a Christian based club and we believe in teaching athletes the skills necessary to succeed in volleyball.
Playing time is important for an athlete to "practice" the skills that he has learned in practice. We limit the number of athletes that are on each team in order to maximize one on one instruction time, as well as playing time throughout the season. Our goal is to keep our teams at 10 players with a limit of 12
Practices & Conditioning
Our teams will practice twice a week for 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours each session, Monday through Thursday. Travel teams have the option of some extra practice times if needed.
Developmental Program
This program is for athletes mainly 10 and under wanting to learn the basics of volleyball.
General Policy
> AZ Sky supports and enforces all AZ Region and USAV policies (our governing bodies).
> All coaches have their IMPACT certification and are background checked by the AZ Region.
> Our staff will be respectful and should exhibit high moral values when they are interacting with Jr. athletes or representing the club.
> Player selection to a team will be based on athletic ability, attitude and how well they respond to direction (coachability).
> National teams:
-- Have a limit of 10 players.
-- Will participate in the Cactus Classic or Fiesta Classic tournaments.
-- Will participate in all Region tournaments
-- Will travel to at least one out of state National Qualifier
-- Are encouraged to participate in the Junior Olympics if they decide to qualify.(extra cost)
-- Athletes are expected to travel together, stay in the same hotel, follow all club rules and rules set by their coaches.
-- Requires a commitment to your volleyball team before any other sport. Family and education are supported choices that can take precedence from time to time over practice.
> Regional teams:
-- Have a player target of 10 and limit of 12.
-- Will participate in the Cactus Classic or Fiesta Classic tournaments.
-- Will participate in all Region tournaments
> The general rule of the club is a 'no release' policy once a player has committed to a team. Extenuating circumstances can be considered once commitment fees are paid in full.
> A player must play in their age group/grade in pre-high school years. A petition can be filled out and a waiver may be granted to play in a higher age group for reasons that the club deems legitimate only.
> Playing time is not guaranteed, it is earned.
-- Playing time for National teams will be earned based on ability and commitment.
-- Playing time for Regional teams will be in proportion to their level of commitment and ability with an emphasis on tournament playing time for all athletes.
-- Coaches should be able to explain why court time is less than an athlete's/parent's expectations and what that athlete needs to do to get where they want to be.
> Player, Parent and AZ Sky staff misconduct will not be tolerated. An incident form will be available on request. All incidents will be reviewed and action will be taken if necessary.
> AZ Sky reserves the right to sanction it's club players or it's staff for any misconduct
