Arizona Sky Volleyball Club: Sky News

Aug 2014 communication

Dear parents,

Arizona Sky is gearing up for another successful season. Our objectives are based upon our core philosophy from which the club was built, including maintaining an open door policy.

As many of you have heard, Mary Beth Svorinic is on medical leave. In her absence, I will be assuming all duties of club director until further notice. Please know that AZ Sky will continue to provide a safe and consistent practice environment for your children. We remain committed to utilizing proven training techniques, while providing unmatched services for our AZ Sky families.

Kingdom Courts is the home of Arizona Sky Volleyball Club, and we will continue to provide opportunities for training year round.

Club updates you can look forward to in the 2015 season

-We have retained Robert Marin as our college recruiting consultant. Robert will be conducting informational meetings for players ages 15-18 in early December. He will be available for consultations, video filming and may travel with teams to help foster and grow the relationship between our players and college coaches.

-The tryout registration process will be streamlined. Necessary information will be gathered and submitted well in advance. We believe this will greatly reduce the number of errors that result from information being entered incorrectly into the system on tryout day. This should also improve and speed up the process for ordering uniforms. Open gyms and tryout dates are listed under the TRYOUT link.

-National coaches have accepted a rotation between two age groups to maintain a training consistency and level of competitiveness across the club. Head coaches are also responsible for securing their assistant coaches. We expect this change will improve team cohesiveness while striving for excellence. Preliminary Coaching assignments have been posted.

-We are researching the option of having each parent books flights for their own daughter for all age groups. An additional assistant coach may be assigned to some teams to assume the duties of chaperone and team coordinator, allowing them a more visible role with players ages 15-18. AZ Sky will still block out rooms for parents, players and coaches so that teams will be able to stay together at the same hotel.

-AZ Sky will be adding regional teams for our 15’s and 16’s to accommodate players and families not interested in travel outside Arizona. This will allow us to take full advantage of national tournaments held locally. At the same time it will also give us greater exposure at the national level, right here in town. We will keep you updated as tryouts draw near.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. We are grateful for your support and commitment to Arizona Sky Volleyball Club.
