9/10s STATE Baseball: Bulls Get Back on Track
In Game two of pool play, the McCormick Ranch Bulls righted the ship, but started out slow again.  CGLL (Casa Grande LL) jumped out to 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning with McCormick Ranch getting one back in the bottom of the inning.  With the bats silent for McCormick Ranch, Casa Grande added 2 in the 3rd to stretch their lead to 5-1.  McCormick Ranch scratched across one more run in the bottom of the 4th to draw it to 5-2 for Casa Grande.  In the bottom of the 5th inning the McCormick Ranch bats woke up and added several key hits to score 6 runs to take their first lead of the tournament 8-5.  McCormick Ranch struck out 4 of CGLL's last 5 batters to close out the game and get their first win.  McCormick Ranch will now play Prescott Valley LL (District 10) Tuesday at 5:30 pm.

9/10's STATE Baseball: McCormick Ranch Off to Tough Start in Opening Game
McCormick Ranch started their quest for a state title facing a formidable team in RRLL (Rio Rico LL).  It was a game that featured two strong throwing pitchers on both sides with Rio Rico scratching across a run in the third to go up 1-0.  Rio Rico added a few more runs to make it 3-1, but the bats were silent for McCormick Ranch in their Pool Play opener.  Rio Rico continued to play solid defense and added 3 more runs in the 5th to trip up McCormick Ranch 6-1.  McCormick Ranch now faces the District 4 champion tomorrow, Saturday, night at 5:30 pm for their second game of pool play.
The tournament bracket and results are being posted at the District 14 web site.

9/10's District Baseball: Mountain View Reaches Championship Game

Mountain View Little League (MVLL) is nothing if not resilient.  MVLL lost their first game and dropped into the elimination bracket.  All they have done since then is win.  Last night, they won for the fourth time in a row. MVLL defeated McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) 17-7. As the victor, MVLL will play McCormick Ranch Little League (MRLL) in the District 6 Championship Game on Saturday, June 27, night at 5:30 PM.

It should be noted that as this is a double-elimination tournament,  MVLL would need to beat MRLL twice to win the Championship.

9/10's District Baseball: McCormick Ranch & McDowell Mountain Move On in Winners' Bracket

In what only seemed like a marathon of baseball, the 4 games tonight were all completed just prior to the 11:00 PM curfew.

In the four previous years of District 6's 9/10 Baseball Tournament, McCormick Ranch Little League (MRLL) has won the title 3 times and are the defending champions.  The only other winner at this tournament was McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) in 2007.  As a result, it should not come as shock to anyone that these two teams are the two remaining undefeated teams.  They will play on Wednesday, June 24 at 5:30 PM. MRLL defeated Arcadia Little League (ARLL) 14-9 while MMLL defeated East Scottsdale Little League (ESLL) 24-11.

In the meantime, Fountain Hills Little League (FHLL) and Mountain View Little League (MVLL) staved off elimination with victories over South Scottsdale Little League and Desert Foothills Little League, respectively. On Tuesday, June 23rd MVLL will play ESLL at 5:30 PM and FHLL will now face ARLL at 7:30 PM.

Wednesday, June 24

Mountain View Little League (MVLL) beat East Scottsdale Little League (ESLL) 11-1 in Tuesday evenings first elimination game.  In the second elimination game, Arcadia Little League (ARLL) beat Fountain Hills Little League (FHLL) 20-3.  This sets up a rematch of Saturday night's contest of MVLL vs. ARLL which ARLL won.  They will play on Wednesday, June 24 at 7:30 PM.

The early game at 5:30 PM will pit the 2 undefeated teams McCormick Ranch Little League (MRLL) and McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL)

9/10's District Baseball: McCormick Ranch Advances to Championship Game While Mountain View Continues Through Elimination Bracket

In last night's early game involving the 2 remaining undefeated teams McCormick Ranch Little League (MRLL) beat McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) in a thrilling see-saw battle 13-11. MRLL moves on to the championship game on Saturday, June 27 at 5:30 PM.  MMLL will play the winner of last night's second game, Mountain View Little League (MVLL).

The second game of the night featured a rematch of Saturday night's  MVLL - Arcadia Little League (ARLL) game.  On Saturday, ARLL beat MVLL 13-3.  This time, MVLL repaid the favor by the exact same score and eliminated ARLL.  MMLL will now play MVLL at 7:30 tonight.
