STATE Senior Baseball (Scottsdale): Mountain View (District 6) Wins Their First State Championship!

Mountain View (MVLL) and Tempe-Guadalupe (TGLL) played a thrilling game with MVLL finally winning 9-8.  MVLL led early 3-0, but TGLL fought back to take the lead 5-3.  MVLL tied it at 5, but with 2 runs in the top of the 6th and 1 run in the top of the 7th, TGLL led 8-5.  MVLL scored 4 runs in their final at bat in the bottom of the 7th to win the Arizona State Senior Baseball Championship.   

Congratulations to MVLL for winning their first State Championship.
  MVLL will now travel to Salem, Oregon for the Western Region Tournament that starts on 07/31/06.  MVLL's first opponent will be Alaska (click this if you would like to be taken to that website).

Friday, July 21
STATE Senior Baseball (Scottsdale): Championship Game Set with Mountain View and Tempe-Guadalupe to Play

Mountain View Little League, representing District #6, scored early and often as they beat Gilbert National East of District 14.  The final score: 17-0.

Tempe-Guadalupe Little League, representing District #13, used a similar game plan as they beat Holiday Park of District 2.  The final score: 10-0.


Mountain View and Tempe-Guadalupe played earlier in pool play with just 1-run separating these 2 fine teams.  The CHAMPIONSHIP game will be Saturday night (07/22/06) at Indian School Park in Scottsdale (4289 N. Hayden Road; on Hayden just north of Indian School Road) at 7:00 PM.

Thursday, July 20
STATE Senior Baseball: Seeds Set for Tomorrow Night's Semi-Final

  • District #2 Holiday Park clinched first place in Pool B last night, but finished the tournament with a win tonight to have the only perfect record.

  • District #6 Mountain View needed the help of District #12 Sunnyside to finish first in Pool A. Sunnyside beat District #5 Tanque Verde in the "Battle of Tucson." 

  • Similarly, in the "Battle of Mesa," Gilbert National East of District #14 advanced as the second seed in Pool B after beating District #7 Mesa North Central.

  • Tempe Guadalupe of District #13 took care of business tonight and finished second in Pool A.

The Semi-Finals are set for Friday night (please see below) at Scottsdale Stadium (Osborn & Civic Center).  The complete bracket can be downloaded from the "All Star Tournaments" link.  Hope to see you out there.

State Senior Baseball: Many Teams Still in Hunt with 1 Night Left in Pool Play
Here are the standings after the fourth night.  It is going down to the last night (Thursday night) of pool play to determine the seeding. If you want to see some of the best baseball being played in the State by these 14-16 year olds, come on out to Indian School Park in Scottsdale (4289 N. Hayden Road; on Hayden just north of Indian School Road).

2006 State Senior Baseball Information Now Available
Arizona District 6 is happy to be hosting the State Senior (14/15/16s) Baseball Tournament.  Games will begin on Sunday July 16th.  By clicking on the 2006 State Senior Baseball link at the left you will be able to access all the news related to that tournament.  By clicking on the All Star Tournaments link at the left and choosing State Senior Baseball, you will be able to download the tournament bracket and all the information you will need to attend/participate in the tournament.  Please note that the tournament bracket may change up until the tournament begins due to teams being added or removed from participation.  Please check back frequently for bracket updates.
