AYSO Honolulu Region 178: Frequently Asked Questions
What is eAYSO?eAYSO (electronic-American Youth Soccer Organization) replaces many different AYSO systems and databases with a single web-based application. It unites every person associated with AYSO: parents, players, volunteers, and staff. Each one of us can submit, edit, and view the AYSO information that pertains to us 24/7 on a secure website.
Every player and every volunteer registers annually with a signed registration form. You only have to sign up on-line once, which takes less than 4 minutes to enter all the required information for one player or volunteer, whereby your e-mail address is your username and you pick your own password. In subsequent years, you just verify that info, before you print and sign it again. (See notes at the bottom of this page).
For Parents (Players):
Go to www.eayso.org, select [First time] or [Log In]. Follow the on screen directions and enter information as requested on each page. Select [AYSO parents] on the screen with 3 big blue buttons if you are signing up your child and proceed.
Click on the printer icon next to each name. Sign 3 copies (1 for the coach, 1 for administration, 1 for your files); add & circle the uniform size: YX, YS, YM, YL, AS, AM, AL, XL. Bring the forms; a copy of proof of birthdate for new players; and a check to one of our registration days (see calendar).
System availability:
Maintenance and major updates will be scheduled Mondays, between 9pm and 5am, Eastern Time, during which the system may be UNavailable.
System activity may be limited on all other days of the week, between the hours of 3am and 7am, Eastern Time.
If you use AOL and the maintenance screen pops up on days other than Mondays between the hours of 9pm and 5am, Eastern Time, [Crtl][F5] will clear the memory and delete the cache.

Frequently Asked Questions National Coaching Program
(Answers provided by the AYSO National Coach and the National Coaching Commission)
Q. Why do we play short-sided games and is it mandatory?
A. AYSO highly recommends that all children under the age of 12 play shortsided (less
than 11 players per team) soccer for the following reasons:
Young soccer players need special consideration:
They are children playing a childs game
They must be regarded as young children, not mini adults
They are essentially self-oriented and relate naturally to one or two others, not
to large groups
Fun and activity factors must be a central part of a child-centered program
Educators agree early learning experiences are the most important and produce the
most retention:
Most children cannot sustain prolonged activity
They function best in suitable starts and stops (rest periods)
Concentration span is limited, so frequent changes of pace and activity are
essential
