OVERVIEW
Atlanta Wood Bat Instructional League is a 6-8 week competitive wood bat instructional collegiate summer baseball league for players from ACC, SEC, ATLANTIC SUN, MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, SIAC, NJCC, NAIA, and other INDEPENDENT colleges and universities across the southeast region of the United States.
AWBIL's approach is an affordable instructional competitive wood bat league for players from the Atlanta metropolitan area looking to enhance their skill set against quality quality competition during the off season. In addition, AWBIL mission is mentoring inner city athletes that desire to earn a college education and play collegiate baseball. In furtherance, AWBIL serves as a learning center for interns seeking professions in the sports administration arena as marketing representatives, digital media reporters, radio and TV broadcast announcers.
AWBIL Royals are entering their 3rd season as members of the Great South Collegiate Baseball League. The GSL was ranked by Perfect Game Cross Checkers as being a top 25 league with the potential to reach elite status.
AWBIL will host the 2ND ANNUAL HBCU ALL STAR BASEBALL REVUE ON JUNE 25, 2011 AT MUNDY'S MILL HIGH SCHOOL.
AWBIL season will start at the or during the 1ST week of June 2011 and will conclude at the end of July 2011 or the first week of August 2011. Most games will be held on the weekends, doubleheader 7 innings per game and 9 innings for a single game.

*ATLANTA WOOD BAT INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE LLC
*Purpose-A 6-8 week competitive collegiate wood bat league for players from ACC, SEC, ATLANTIC SUN, SWAC, MEAC, CIAA, SIAC, NJCC AND OTHER INDEPENDENT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES..
*League Structure-AWBIL had one team to compete in the Great South League. The GSL constist of (12) twelve teams representing (6) states. 30-35 game schedule along with a playoff that is determine by league standing.
*Eligibility-Players from Four Year Colleges and Universities (NCAA & NAIA) as well as Junior Colleges.
*Team Structure-Dream team roster would be 12 pitchers and 13 position players.
*Team Name-ROYALS
*Team Colors-Blue & White
*Type of Competition-Collegiate Summer Baseball Teams in the Southeast.
*League Fee-$500.00
*Venue- Mundys Mill High School
*Application Process-Important Dates to Remember-Application deadline MAY 15, 2011
*Personal Training- Sessions for Pitchers and Position Development
*Upward Mobility-Life after collegiate baseball.
LEADERSHIP/ADMINISTRATION
Arney D. Roberson Sr., the founder and Executive Director of Atlanta Wood Back Instructional Baseball League. He is a 1978 graduated from JEB Stuart High School located in Falls Church, Virginia. He attended Florida Memorial University where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree of Public Administration 1982. He furthered his matriculation and received a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University 1985.
Arney has work extensively in the field of volunteerism since 1974, as a coach, a sports administrator, marketing representative and event manager from the little league to the collegiate level. With 25 years of humanitarian service, Arney has had direct involvement with former players who are now icons in the world of collegiate and professional sports. Arney is the Executive Director and General Manager for all of the AWBIL teams.

In the spirit of Black History month the Atlanta Wood Bat Instructional League (AWBIL) will host a High School All Star Game and HBCU All Star Invitational Revue for the 2010 season.

On June 14, 2010, Arney D. Roberson, Sr. the founder and executive director of Atlanta Wod bat Instriuctional League was a guest on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. At this time, Arney had a conversation with Tom Joyner and Sybil Wilkes discussing the plot baseball and African Americans athletes. There was further discussion regarding the collegiate wood bat summer league and the community outreach as well as the HBCU ALL STAR REVUE INVITATIONAL 2010 June 26, 2010 at Mundy's Mill High School.

AWBIL Royals Alumnus Harrison Gary of Alcorn State University will get his first start of the season against the Southern University Jaguars in a head to head match up with alot on the line heading into the conference tournament. Gary is a sophmore right hander for ASU Braves who is from the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area and has pitch for the AWBIL Royals since the inception of the organization in 2009. The AWBIL Royals will have several positions available for collegiate students that are seeking summer internship in the area of sports administration and sports management. Here is a list of positions for the summer season of 2011:
*Sports Marketing-Solicitation of sponsorship for the team and league; requires basic knowledge of marketing and the ability to sale sponsorship to local businesses and corporations.
*Sports Trainers (2)-Provide first responder immediate first aid to players; assist players with injuries as a result of the game participation.
*Digital Media Specialist- Handles all digital media related stories.
*Sports Writers-League sports reporting and preparation of game summeries, player and coach interviews, team and league updates regading the team status.
*Radio-TV-Live broadcast game broadcast announcements over the internet radio station the Atlanta Wood Bat Network. Live interview broadcast of players, coaches and fans.
*Stadium Operation-Responsible for field and game preparation for all events; maintenance clean-up after all games.
*Statistians-Ability to operate a computerized statistical software (Pointstreak), work and provide game day statistical data.
