WELCOME TO THE SITE OF THE

AUNT ROSIE'S

INTERNATIONAL FASTPITCH TOURNAMENT

The AMHERST GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE is proud to host the Aunt Rosie's International Fastpitch Tournament. We are located in Amherst, NY, which is a suburb of Buffalo, at the Audubon Complex (formerly known as the PEPSI CENTER), 1615 Amherst Manor Dr, Williamsville, NY 14221.  Amherst is located in the western portion of New York state and is only 18 miles from Niagara Falls.

Our grounds crew has kept our tournaments running when other tournaments have thrown in the towel! We have clean, permanent bathrooms, and a full service concession stand. All of our diamonds have covered dugouts and are  completely fenced in, and our signature diamond is lighted. Amherst has been consistently recognized as one of the safest towns of its size by a National Research Company.

Tournament notes:
~Our 18 & Under will complete the transition to a Showcase Event this year. The rules will reflect the change, and teams will have the option of playing Thursday & Friday, or Saturday & Sunday. We will also limit the number of college players we accept (Ju Co's preferred). We encourage the "older" 18U teams to enter our OPEN Division tournament where they can compete against other college players. Complete rules and information will be available soon on our "18U Showcase" page.
~Our 10 & Under will play Saturday & Sunday. Monday (Memorial Day) will be a rain make-up day. 12 & Under will play all 3 days.
~14 & Under will pitch from 43 feet.
~AS ALWAYS, WE WILL WORK WITH YOU REGARDING YOUR SCHEDULE. Those teams that want to play early on Day 1 can dictate their schedule. We'll do our best to accommodate those teams that want to start late, but you may have to accept whatever's available after that.

2011 ISSUES DISCUSSED

During the course of the tournaments, issues come up, and decisions need to be made. We have decided to explain the process that does into these decisions. The underlying principle is that there should be fairness and consistency, and the games should be decided on the field by the girls. You may not agree, but hopefully you will understand why they were made. Bear in mind that they needed to be made on the spot.

- 10U/12U: This was our first tournaments of the year, and there was some confusion with the umpires. They had allowed games to continue after time expired and a winner was determined. It was brought to our attention after several games played by those rules. This was never our intention, but we had to continue the tournament with the rulings that had already been made.

-16U: We tried a Saturday-Monday tournament. Unfortunately, a few teams that knew they'd be missing players on Monday due to family vacation plans had injury issues. We allowed them to play with 8 players without taking an out in the batting order. Our reasoning was that the games should be decided by the girls on the field, and the short-handed team was already at a disadvantage.

-18U: An allogation was made against the Hunt's Hurricanes regarding player eligibility. Some details were provided, and an internet search supported some of the allogations. The coach was asked to provide proof of age as stated in our rules. He could not provide proof of age for the girls in question, and the team was disqualified. We expect our teams to be honorable, and we will never tolerate cheating.
