I hope you've had a good start to the spring. We're at the stage of spring where the cherry trees have finished blooming and the apple blossoms are out now. Tulips have been up for a couple weeks.

We're having a very wet spring. We've had three weekends of spring play in our league, and have been cancelled each time so we haven't had any league matches yet. We've had two tournaments one state cup match with another coming up this Saturday. So far we're 6-1-1 with a loss to Baltimore, but wins over Rochester, Detroit, Freehold (NJ) and a couple local teams.

Good luck this spring!

Have you been playing this winter or taking a rest? Its usually cold here, but we've had a warm streak and even got to 70 degrees today. We've been taking advantage of the warmer than usual temperatures and having a few practices. We start our outdoor season on March 8th in Arlington Virginia with the Arlington Invitational which is played exclusively on artificial turf fields. Since this time of year is prone to rain, snow and other ugly weather, it is good to have some of these type fields around. Even if it's not raining, there's usually so much mud that playing on a regular field is out of the question. Last year on the first week of March, there was a snowstorm on the east coast and all the tournaments were cancelled except for the Arlington Invitational. This year we're playing mostly local teams, but there's some teams from other places too including PA/Delaware, Virginia Beach and the Rochester Rhinos too. Abby Wambach played for the Rhinos.

In the end of March we're playing in the Jefferson Cup in Richmond and we're facing Brentwood (Nashville) Apex, Michigan Gators (Detroit) and Baltimore. We've played Baltimore twice, once at U9 and lost 3-1 and then last November when we won. We've played a different Nashville team, but never the Apex and we've never seen Michigan though they played in the WAGS Tournament a couple years ago and did very well.

Where are you headed?

Hi Charlie,

I enjoyed perusing your web page, it’s very nice. I really liked the “20 soccer rules”.

We're from a small town on the outer edges of Fairfax County, a distant suburb of Washington DC. We haven't traveled very far yet for tournaments. We've gone to NJ, MD, VA and NC for tournaments; mostly those are within a couple hours' drive. When we were in NC, we played teams from Brentwood (Nashville) Tennessee, Atlanta and Frederick MD. We're lucky that we have some of the bigger national tournaments in our back yard (WAGS Tournament in Oct, Bethesda in Nov and the Jefferson Cup-Richmond in March) and they draw teams from all over the place. In the WAGS tournament we played teams from Cincinnati, Raleigh NC, and a local team. In the Bethesda Tournament we played a Massachusetts team and Baltimore. In the Jefferson Cup last year there were teams in our age group from NY, CO, PA, GA, VA, MD, MA, RI, MI, DE, NC. In another age group, there was even a team from Alaska. We usually play in our own age group, there's some strong teams around here and the big tournaments try to find like-skilled teams to put together.

I've done summaries of our games in the past, but haven't this year. I put some notes and pictures together, but haven't published them yet. I agree lets compare ideas and keep in touch.

Rich.

We're a GU13 team (2007-2008) based near Washington DC. DC is a crazy place, but y'all ought to come out and visit sometime. We have many tournaments around here, but the biggest is the WAGS tournament held on Columbus Day weekend. Good luck with the rest of your season.

Wow, great website. I love motivation and team inspirations. You guys are certainly on the right page.
"Wins and loses are not always measured by the final score, rather how you play, and most importantly, Finishing STRONG" Our team has won more games in come back wins, because we coach to continue to play there game without watching the score!
If you come to dallas for a tourniment look us up!

Coach George

Nice to hear from you Eliza. Thanks for visiting our web site and wishing us well. You know we'll be looking forward to another fine season of competition and we know the Electra will always come prepared and ready to play. Be assured Cat and her teammates will be hanging around your team tent and maybe even mooch some snacks and drinks from ya'll. That's how we do it at LRFC, make friends with the competition and raid their coolers in between games. :-) Best wishes to you and your team this fall season. You're a fine group of girls! —CB

Hey Eliza,
