ANGELS WIN 3RD STRAIGHT PRESIDENT'S CUP!
Angels complete 3PEAT! The ASC Angels have now won three straight President's Cup State Championships. The team had secured their latest tournament win before the last game was even played. Overcoming a barrage of fouls & yellow cards throughout the tournament(save the first game), the players stayed focused on the game at hand & scored 11 goals while giving up 2. The team nows turns their attention to the ultimate prize, the Region 3 tournament in Decatur, Alabama.

Angels reach Regionals Again!
The ASC Angels have done it again. They won the Arkansas President's Cup for the second straight year & headed back to the Region 3 President's Cup. This year the tournament was held in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The team was only a shell of the one who won the Arkansas tournament, beating the LRFC State Champion runner up team 3-2 in double ot in the finals. Taking 8 guest players to the Regionals is a large order indeed. With only one or two practices together, the team never really came together. A first round loss to Ron Santos from Georgia 3-1 didn't really reveal the fact that the Angels were in the game the whole way. Down two to one & pressing up to score the tying goal, a lack of communication led to a breakaway goal with minutes left. The second game with BUSA 95' from Alabama  was the heartbreaker, though. A late goal by Jordan Toler in an otherwise scoreless contest seemed to give the team a lift. A win seemed eminent, however, with less than a minute to go, our keeper was called for a foul in the box & given a yellow card. This led to a penalty kick, which the Alabama team quickly obliged & a sure win turned into a nightmare tie 1-1. Facing the champion FC Dallas team from Texas on the last day was a dubious task but the Angels were up to the challenge. Down to 3 subs in very hot weather & with nothing to play for our players once again showed the character that has made this team a champion many times over. Texas scored once in the first half but only got the second goal in the closing minutes, as the Angels bowed out of the game & the tournament with a 2-0 loss. With our heads held high, we were off to watch the Americans play in the World Cup & vowed to return again to this wonderful event.

Angels Win President's Cup Second Straight Year! Overcome LRFC

THE ASC ANGELS HAVE AVENGED A LOSS THAT HAS STUCK IN THEIR CRAW FOR NINE LONG MONTHS. ON  SEPTEMBER 5 2009, WE LOST TO THIS TEAM 3-1. THE REASONS WERE REALLY NOT IMPORTANT, NOR WAS THE LOSS PARTICULARLY HARD TO TAKE. WHAT MADE IT HARD TO SWALLOW WERE THE WORDS WRITTEN ON THEIR WEBSITE AFTERWARD. THEY DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF OUR TEAM & PRETTY MUCH WROTE US OFF AS A TEAM WHO HAD WON OVER WEAK TEAMS & PILED UP IMPRESSIVE STATISTICS AGAINST POOR COMPETITION.

THEY OVERLOOKED THE FACT OUR TEAM HAD PLAYED IN NINE CLASSIC TOURNAMENTS GETTING TO THE FINALS IN FIVE. AT ANY RATE, OUR PLAYERS ROSE TO THE CHALLENGE ,WE NOW PUT THAT BEHIND US & MOVE ON. ANGELS 3 LRFC 2........

ANGELS PLAY IN REGION 3 PRESIDENT'S CUP!!!!!!!!

THE ASC ANGELS REPRESENTED ARKANSAS IN THE REGION 3 PRESIDENT'S CUP HELD IN SOUTH CAROLINA LAST WEEK. THE TEMPERATURE WAS HOT & SO WERE THE ANGELS, AS THEY COMPETED IN WHAT WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE TOUGHEST DRAW IN THE U-14 DIVISION. IN THEIR FIRST MATCH THE ANGELS PLAYED WELL BUT LOST TO THE DYNAMOS FROM HOUSTON, TEXAS 1-0. WE HAD SOME EXCELLENT CHANCES TO SCORE;JUST COULDN'T GET ONE IN THE NET. THE SECOND CONTEST WAS A GREAT GAME AGAINST PROBABLY THE STRONGEST CLUB IN THE COUNTRY(THEY HAVE WON MORE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS THAN ANY OTHER WOMENS CLUB). WITH THE SCORE 0-0 AT HALF, OUR GIRLS PLAYED LIGHTS OUT EVEN AFTER STING BLUE,FROM DALLAS FINALLY GOT THEIR ONE & ONLY GOAL. THAT WAS A SIGHT TO SEE. ON SATURDAY, WITH FOUR PLAYERS HURT & OUR PRIDE SLIGHTLY BRUISED, WE WERE FINALLY OVERWHELMED BY THE TULSA NATIONALS 3-0. OUR TEAM DID NOT SURRENDER ANOTHER GOAL AFTER THE FIRST HALF & PROBABLY DENIED THE OKLAHOMA TEAM A CHANCE TO MOVE INTO THE NEXT ROUND.THREE OTHER TEAMS DID NOT WIN A GAME OR SCORE A GOAL, & ANOTHER TEAM BEAT ONE OF THESE 1-0 FOR THEIR ONLY WIN IN MUCH WEAKER FLIGHTS. I WOULD NOT TRADE OUR GAMES FOR ANY OF THOSE.

ANGELS SHOW THEY BELONG IN CROSSROADS
The Arkansas Soccer Club Angels U-14 girls played in the Crossroads of the South tournament in Jackson Mississippi  & finished first in group B making it to the division final. Regulation play ended in a 1-1 tie, resulting in penalty kicks to decide the championship. The BUSA 95 team from Alabama won the shootout 4-3. The Angels did not lose any of their four games in regulation, coming from behind three times to win or tie. They also scored more goals than any other team in their division. A wonderful performance!

Angels Win Arkansas Valley Third Straight Year
Playing in the last final of the day, the ASC Angels won their third straight AVSA tournament. The team won all four games without giving up a single goal. Marking four wins in a row over their archrivals Harrison, this team simply refused to give up the lead, as they made a one goal score stand up. This was the first time since Fallfest 2005 the Angels & Harrison had squared off in a final. Two down, three to go.

Jordan Whisnant achieved her first clean sheets of the season. One down, four to go.

Angels come up short in President's Cup
The ASC Angels finished their season on a slightly down note this past Sunday, losing in the semifinals to the eventual champion Conway Rush. To a team that has won ten championships & finished runner up nine times, anything less than the final is a strange sensation. This was, however, a learning experience for the team & coaches alike. We will be back next season, better prepared, better conditioned & a better soccer team.

ASC ANGELS STATE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!

The ASC Angels won the 2008 Kohl's American Cup Sunday in a memorable final that went to penalty kicks to determine the outcome. The winner of this tournament traditionally is crowned state champion of the recreational division. This is the second win in three years for the Angels . The team has also been in the final four years in a row. Regulation finished with the Jonesboro Tornados & Angels tied 1-1. Two five minute overtimes went by with no additional goals. ASC went first, hit the crossbar & the ball sailed over the goal. The Tornados made the first kick & their excellent goalie stopped our second shot. Facing a possible 2-0 deficit, things looked bad for the Angels. Then our keeper stopped the first of three consecutive shots, our next three players made goals & the celebration was on!

ANGELS CELEBRATE SIX CONSECUTIVE UNDEFEATED SEASONS!!!!!!!!
The ASC Angels have now finished undefeated six consecutive league seasons. This dates back to the fall of 2005 registering thirty two wins & four ties. Also includes three unbeaten untied seasons. Five players on the current roster played in all six of these seasons; Jordan Whisnant, Jordan Toler, Samantha Smith, Leah Srebalus & Taylor Ruple. The last regular season game this team lost was in March of 2005. To the players the coaches say, "well done".

ANGELS FINALISTS AT FT SMITH SPRING KICKOFF
The Angels continue to surprise many soccer fans with their tournament play(not least of all their coaches). This past weekend the team finished as silver medalists playing as the only recreational team in a classic tournament. The Angels beat the number two & number four ranked teams in the state while losing to an excellent team from Norman Oklahoma.

THE ANGELS WON THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE TOURNAMENT THIS PAST WEEKEND TAKING THE TUPELO SPRING CLASSIC FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. THE TEAM WON ALL FOUR GAMES SCORING 11 GOALS, & ALLOWING JUST 2, PLAYING IN THE U-14 DIVISION. THE HARDEST GAME WAS WITH OXFORD ,MS.. THE ANGELS FELL BEHIND 1-0, THEN ROARED BACK WITH TWO GOALS OF THEIR OWN, CLINCHING THE VICTORY. THE BACK LINE WAS SUPERB  & OUR GOALIE WAS MAGNIFICENT. SIX DIFFERENT PLAYERS SCORED THE 11 GOALS. A COMPLETE TEAM EFFORT.

"ANGELS WIN AVSA THIRD TIME IN FOUR YEARS"
The latest version of the ASC ANGELS has taken their place as CHAMPIONS of the the ARKANSAS VALLEY soccer tournament. The 2007 team has now kept alive the winning streak that began in 2004. This team has never lost a tournament game here. This year's record of three wins & one tie was good enough to capture first place in a five team bracket. Knowing they needed a shutout in ther last game to win, these girls stepped up to the challenge & simply blew away the Jacksonville Sirens 7-0. This is the same team we struggled with earlier in the season, in a 3-1 game that saw the Angels behind most of the game. It shows the improvement in our players.

Monday, September 24
ANGELS "CHAMPIONS OF PEARL FALL FESTIVAL"

The ASC Angels traveled to Jackson Mississippi last weekend & came home with the championship of the girls U-14 division. Playing up in age & certainly in size, this group of girls refused to back down from the very physical play. Several players were forced to leave the field. Competing with only 13 members of the team, some girls played the entire game. The Angels were a perfect 4-0, allowing only 1 goal during the tournament. It is safe to say, the good people from Mississippi now know the "ASC ASC ASC" chant by heart.Several parents made the trip & cheered the girls on. Pleasant accommodations, good food,a bit of bonding & a lot of soccer! A good time was had by all.

Angels turn heads in President's Cup
The Angels probably made some new fans with their recent play in the President's Cup. They surprised everyone but themselves making it to the final. Along the way they knocked off the defending champions & came from behind in two games. They also had to beat the first place finisher from the other bracket to gain the final. Well done Angels!

Monday, February 26
"ANGELS CHAMPIONS OF TUPELO SPRING CLASSIC"
The ASC ANGELS opened their spring 2007 season in high fashion, winning the prestigious TUPELO SPRING CLASSIC! This is an annual tournament held in Tupelo Mississippi, and traditionally draws strong teams from several states. This year's event featured teams from Miss.,Ala.,Ten.,La.& Ark..

With three veteran players not making the trip & four new players added to the roster the expectations were unsure to say the least. Playing in less than ideal conditions featuring strong wind, rain & cold conditions the players responded with gritty & determined effort. The team scored 14 goals while giving up only 1.

The Angels defeated the Saltillo Stingers in the final 2-0, scoring two goals in the first half against the wind, then playing suffocating defense in the second half. The Stingers had scored 16 goals leading up to the final.

Congratulations to the latest addition of the ARKANSAS SOCCER CLUB ANGELS!

"ANGELS WIN ARKANSAS VALLEY TOURNAMENT AGAIN"
THE TRIP HOME FROM RUSSELLVILLE WAS SWEET FOR THE ASC ANGELS THIS PAST SUNDAY EVENING. THEY HAD JUST BEEN CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF THEIR DIVISION FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE SEASONS(LAST YEAR WAS A BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT TO THE TEAM WHEN THEY FINISHED SECOND ON POINTS WITH THREE WINS & ONE TIE IN A ROUND ROBIN FORMAT) THE ANGELS WERE HAVING NONE OF THAT THIS YEAR, AS THEY WON ALL FOUR GAMES, GIVING UP ONE GOAL IN THEIR FIRST GAME & THROWING 3 CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUTS INCLUDING AN IMPRESSIVE 2-0 WIN OVER THE JONESBORO TORNADOES IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. THE ANGELS SCORED WITH LESS THAN TWO MINUTES GONE IN THE GAME & NEVER LOOKED BACK. CONGRATULATIONS TO A VERY DESERVING GROUP OF YOUNG LADIES!

Wednesday, May 10

ANGELS MAKE FINAL IN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
PLAYING IN THEIR FIRST STATE FINAL THE ANGELS LEARNED A BITTER LESSON;THE BEST TEAM DOESN'T ALWAYS WIN. A YOUNG INEXPERIENCED REFEREE CAN HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON SUCH A GAME. I BELIEVE THIS TEAM WILL BE BACK HERE!
