AREA's Mission and Profile
AREA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that serves as an organizing body for educational robotics activities in the state of Alaska. To this end it raises funds for robotics competitions such as FIRST and FIRST LEGO League (FLL), mentors students participating in these competitions, and hosts tournaments.

Formed by volunteers and parents who were active in the FIRST robotics competitions, AREA began its service in the state of Alaska in 2001 and received its IRS 501(c)(3) status in March 2002. This non profit organization works to develop an interest in science and engineering within young people. AREA introduces the exciting world of technology through robotics competitions.
