Revolution Player Tryout-Combine
For 2007 Season – August 26
New York, NY (August 4, 2006) – The first open player tryout-combine for a roster spot on the 2007 New York – New Jersey Revolution will take place from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturday, August 26 at The Center Circle, 1255 Main Street, Rahway, NJ. Registration begins promptly at 10 am and includes a $50 processing fee payable in cash only on the day of the tryout-combine. Participants must be at least 18 years old, will be required to sign a waiver form and should wear shoes appropriate for indoor field turf.
The Revolution, who will call The William G. Mennen Arena, a facility of the Morris County Park Commission, home for its second season in the Great Lakes Indoor Football League starting in April 2007, are regrouping in the off season. "Every position is open. We played hard our first year, but we need to improve and we're looking to our player tryout to provide us with the talent to necessary to win," says team player personnel representative Kevin Hanratty. Prospects from the New York and New Jersey area are especially encouraged to attend and fans are invited to come watch the event.
Potential players will be reviewed in the following events: 40-yard dash, 20-yard pro shuttle, broad jump and L-agility drill. Participants will also take part in one-on-one drills against players with professional arena and indoor experience. One-on-one drills are included in the tryout to simulate actual game situations and the results will weigh heavily on a potential player's final rating, rather than combine results alone. Hanratty adds, "Numbers aren't everything and will not be the only factor in deciding who makes the team, if anything the one-on-ones are the most important indication as to whether or not a player can make it at this level."
