Do fees have to be paid in full before equipment is issued?
All fees must be paid in full prior to equipment issue because we cannot register any player who is not paid in full. We are unable and unwilling to chase money. In the past we have registered players on the promise the balance of fees would be paid promptly only to have to wait sometimes months for the balance to be paid and on one occasion to have not ever collected the outstanding money, this makes it unfair for those who have paid as they are in effect subsidizing the people who have not paid. Remember $225 is paid to the league on your players behalf (not-refundable) $50 goes to the team for supplies, equipment, banquets etc. (non-refundable), $27.50 is paid to the City of Airdrie to maintain our practice facility and $100 is the equipment deposit which is refunded to you at seasons end upon the return of every set of equipment.

How do I contact Storm Management?
You can contact Storm staff by email airdriestorm@hotmail.com Emails are checked multiple times each day and we will repsond as promptly as possible.

If you want to speak to Mike or Janice directly, you can call us directly at the Storm number 826-2146. The phone is left on 24 hours a day and has voice mail, so leave us a message and we will get back to you as quickly as possible. We will NOT respond to any Storm related calls on our home phone and we do NOT do football business on Sundays.

How does the $100.00 equipment deposit work?
Regarding the deposit we do need cash or to cash the cheque. This creates an incentive for players and/or their families to return the equipment and to do so in a timely manner on a specified date at the end of the season. In the past, we have had equipment outstanding 2-3 months after the season has ended, and in some cases, never had it returned at all. Unfortunately, we have had to put this new policy in place, as often people will simply stop payment on a post dated deposit cheque. Your deposit will be returned to you promptly once we have received every set of our equipment back. We are always willing to negotiate payment plans for registrations and the deposit.

Is the Storm a family friendly program?
YES!! We encourage everyone to come out and join the Storm family. Bring your lawn chairs to the practice field, meet the kids your child is hanging out with and their parents, and enjoy watching your child develop in this great game.

We love to see game day as a family affair so come out and cheer the Storm to personal victory.

Please remember that all the CBFA players are kids, and that the game officials are out for the love of the game, and to develop their skills not to make a living. Let's treat them all with respect. Misconduct from the stands towards other teams, their families, or the referees brings shame to the Storm.

What if I am going to miss a practice?
It is the player's responsibility to let us know when they will miss a practice or a game. If you are going to miss a practice, either phone or email us before the practice. If you are going to miss a game, we need to know AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE so we can fill the position on the game roster.

When will practices or games be cancelled?
The safety of everyone is a top priority! We will cancel a practice if weather conditions are a threat to the safety of our players and staff. This includes extremely heavy downpour, lightning in the immediate area, hail storms and tornado warnings. We will not take a risk, and will always err on the side of caution. If these conditions arise during a practice, please come and pick up your child as we have no shelter at the practice field.

The City of Calgary has the authority to cancel or delay games at their discretion.

The call out committee will make every effort to contact families as quickly as possible when a change in schedule occurs.

Who do I talk to when I have a concern?
The Storm staff are available to discuss any of your concerns regarding the program. If you have concerns that are related to the management or administrative side of the program, speak to Janice. DON"T ask her about skill development or player positions, etc. because she admits really knows nothing about the game!!

If you have concerns about football issues,we have a 24 hour policy. Please wait 24 hours to speak to the coaches directly, AFTER a practice or game.We call this the 24 hour cool down rule.

Why don't you accept post dated cheques?
We don't accept post dated cheques because it becomes very confusing and very time consuming. We are all volunteers with full time jobs and already commit a huge amount of time to our program. Tracking dates on cheques and making several extra bank deposits is an unfair scenario to put our staff into. Consider 80 plus post dated cheques and you can imagine the accounting fiasco it would create.

Why is bussing no longer provided?
Bussing is no longer provided for a few reasons,it is expensive and while riding the bus to the game was mandatory for all players quite often less then half would make the return trip. Players would sometimes forget to report to the staff that they were not returning on the bus creating the possibility that a player thought to have already left would actually be forgotten at the field, this is a risk we are not willing to assume.

Why won't staff participate in fundraising?
All of the Storm staff are volunteers, and most do not have a child involved in the program. Our investment in football spans approximately 10 months of the year. We attend coaches meetings, clinics and seminars, coaches certifications, various community projects related to the program, and mandatory CBFA functions. As well, a great deal of time goes into preparing for the season, managing throughout the season, then wrapping up a season long after the youth have turned in their equipment. Collectively, we commit nearly the equivalent to one full-time job for a year to the Storm. We do this because we are passionate about youth development and passionate about football, but, really folks, need we say more? We try to find a balance between the Storm and our own job and family commitments, so please be respectful of the additional time demands you might be placing on the staff.

We set our fees as low as possible so that no youth is excluded for financial reasons. The fees we collect just cover the bare necessities to run the program. Any extras such as tailgate parties, t-shirts, jackets, etc. must be paid for through fundraising efforts. If you want anything beyond what the program can provide, we encourage you to coordinate yourselves as parents for fundraising activities. Fundraising ideas must be authorized by the Storm staff (they absolutely may not include the sale of tobacco or alcohol), but otherwise all efforts will be mutually exclusive from the program.
